  • Warning and remnder!

Just thought I'd share OH's strange happenings on his ebay account. Someone has managed to get into his account and try to sell and buy something. All very clever 'cos that means they've changed his pass word and knew his secret question. And even more worrying whoever it is has tried to delete emails regarding this activity.
He's phoned the bank and suspended all internet shopping and nothing had been taken out of the account, fortunately. So it's all a bit worrying.
As a result he's going to have to change all pass words etc which really we should all do on a regular basis, just in case. So if you haven't done this in a while or you use the same pass word for everything, I would recommend spending some time and thinking up some new ones. Don't want to scaremonger but it almost feels like we've had burglars

That is real scary. Most of us are honest and trusting but until it happens to us we carry on regardless. I bought a mobile phone for my grand'daughter once. It was rubbish but the sellers email and contacts were incorrect so I could take it no further apart from settling the bill on my grand'daughter's behalf.
        Will I ever learn?

I recently had money taken from my bank account by a similar scam. All I can suggest is that you run a complete virus check as a Trojan virus had accessed my details!
Luckily I got the money back from Paypal!

that is bad i use ebay a lot, never had any probs touch wood, as snadger said a trojan it will be a keylogger this will monitor every key stroke on your computer does not matter how many times you change your password every time you press a key it is recorded, you got to get rid of this you were lucky this time, the last time i came across one of these i had to re install windows do a scan let me know what u find.

DD (Kissykit) picked up a virus/trojan the other day, took 5 hours to track the thing down because it disabled the virus checker, and it was impossible to run anything without the fake warning screens coming up. It wasn't a keylogger, but I wasn't pleased, she had disconnected from the internet, disabled the virus checker to install a program, and forgot to switch it back on!
Of course all her system files were hidden, and unhiding those wasn't easy in the state it was in, but I managed to get into safe mode, track down the culprits, there were 2; thank goodness really. The first had prevented the second from doing any damage because it was blocking any programmes from running The second sounded pretty gruesome from the description, but I can't remember the names offhand.

hav a good night lg, norton oh no hate to say this but i do not like or rate norton it is poor in my opinion, if you pay for antivirus kaspersky is a lot better. it sounds like a trojan of some kind it will disable your antivirus. norton easy, then it will start to take over your search engine and will direct you to another site. will put some links to 3 powerfull free trojan removers tonight ot tomorrow afternoon, barleysugar you should run 1 of them a well.

Use a utility such as Access Manager Professional to generate and store strong passwords and change them regularly!

I've had both my ebay and paypal accounts hacked into, and no they didn't have the same passwords.

I realised I had a keylogger that Norton hadn't found, I also knew about 2 Trojans that Norton couldn't deal with. Thanks to this site I now have Avast. That dealt with all of it and I'm really happy with it. Except that I can't pay for a better version as I can't use my credit card at the moment 'cos it's been stopped due to above aforesaid activities .
