I suspect most people have a very good reason for the username they adopt (well you can always log out and re-register but I suspect few do).

I was allowed to change mine on another site when I was very much a novice (note that I have a lot of experience now), but only because I had not thought to protect my identity and I received some rather upsetting messages. I was mortified at the time, but I put that down to the inexperience. I wouldn't react in the same way now! I hasten to add that the person sending the messages to me turned out to have done it to lots of other folks in the past using different identities.Granny on the Game in SheffieldComment
