  • Trouser Fastners

Yet again I have had to take a pair of school trousers back to New Look as the stupid fastners that All TROUSERS seem to have these days have dissapeared yet again.
Please can the manufactuers / designers go back to BUTTONS.
I am thinking of starting a petition cos I am fed up with b****Y things.

I remember my mum cutting the buttons of cloths before they were ragged and having a box of buttons....I can never remember them being used on anything else.

            I do that too.
(actually I take buttons, zips, laces, ribbon, lace etc just about anything that may be useful and then cut along the seams and put the fabric into my enormous fabric trunk - well, you never know......)

Bloke on the plot next to me puts old jeans in his bean trench and lets them rot down

The fastners I am refering to are those stupid hook ones that are sewn in and there is no way they can be replaced and its not just new look or school trousers that have them. they are in all womens / girls trousers. Bring back BUTTONS.

My Dad used to use old woolly jumpers (or indeed any rags available) in the bottom of the bean trench.
If I was on suitable terms with the nearest sheep farmers (and had enough garden to dig trenches for beans) I would beg a few bags of 'daggings' for the purpose.

Is it the hook bit or the loop bit that is disappearing on you jackie? I replace the loop by sewing a few long stitches then 'wrapping' the thread round and round to pull them all together. If you go to a haberdashery store (Woolworths used to sell them) you can get replacement hooks and loops which can be sewn onto the garment.

Just found this one on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TROUSER-SKIRT-...3%3A1|294%3A50

LOL, the only difference is you have to sew two ends instead of four holes. More bother to take them back in my opinion (but each to his own of course). Actually, I don't like sewing - full stop!

It looks like its only me who has a problem with these fastners, I dont mind sewing buttons on, or taking up hems, but for some reason I hate these hooks. I took them back cos the hooks were lost and as they cost £16 I didnt see why I should pay more money to buy the hooks as well, she only wore them for about one and a half weeks before she lost 3 hooks out of the four.
                              BRING BACK BUTTONS LOL
