  • Triple Crown Wrapped up

So bring on the French and lets get the grand slam sorted. The Dragon is roaring again Why didn't we play like this in the World Cup ? Looking forward to the visit of Southern Hemisphere teams in the Autumn. It feels like the sixties all over again.

I always wondered why four teams battled over the triple crown till I twigged that Wales dont have one with them only being a principality and not a real country.

Thank you Piskieinboots for your kind words, in particular putting your porcine country man in his place. Ask him the last time England were on the point of winning a second grand slam in 4 years (Hope to hell we dont slip up over the French now)

Whilst I support my home country first and foremost, now that its gone for us this year I hope the Welsh do it.

For the record, here is who has won what since 1947.

Only one country has won a hatrick of grand slams.

Not that I want to be pedantic or owt, but the Scots may object to being called English

Blimey, time for glasses I think, appologies Scotland, who hopefully will leave the wooden spoon for Italy this year.

Son's mob won 64 - 10 today and hosts clubhouse had video of yesterdays games running when we finished, just in time for Balshaws Knee to feature. One of our mum's is a ward sister and she winced big time and would not look at the slo-mo reruns for love nor money.

Thank heavens Lamont is OK after that whack.

More recently than Wales were anywhere near winning a World Cup!

Seriously though, I didn't see any of the games at the weekend due to a family wedding, but it seems that Wales have a very good chance of the Grand Slam, so lets hope they can do it against the French.

Last time they did it, I got the chance to go along to the Millenium Stadium for their Autumn Internationals and saw three of the four, against Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

It has to be said that for most of the time, apart from about 20 minutes against Australia, they certainly didn't look like a Grand Slam side. I just hope this time, for the good of Northern Hemisphere rugby, they can keep the success going.

My England v Ireland last-weekend-decider prediction has gone for a burton anyway!

                        Ahem......i should think so.

Congrats to Wales though, they have turned it around brilliantly after their world cup. My only hope is that Scotland actually have come together properly and they didn't just raise their game for the Calcutta cup match.

Think Lamont is still gonna miss Italy game. You could argue whether he was brave trying to cover the ball rather than just booting it out, but i certainly don't think there was any intent on Balshaw's part....little naive sliding in with the knee perhaps but he wasn't trying to hurt Lamont.

Well done to Wales and yes I hope they go on to the GS now that we are out of it!! (And sorry to everyone for my narky comments last week - I love the rugby normally but haven't time to follow it this year and am getting too stressed about everything so I probably came across badly and I didn't mean to be snippy - please ignore me in general until early May....)
