  • Are they as good as they smell

I quite like eating tomatoes but not as much as smelling them. The leaves in particular are so aromatic I wonder can you use them like a herb?

    I wouldn't recommend it!

The smell of the leaves and stems is wonderful, but no, it's generally advised that you shouldn't eat them...

Agree with Rhona, apparently Toms & Rhubarb leaves are of the same family, not sure how true it is.I have posted a little discussion on the topic.

Interesting and interestinger. Loads of stuff never tastes as good as it smells. As a child my mummy kept a veg garden and I would pick, smell and eat the green tomatoes. Yummy.

Tomatoes and potatoes are the same family as Deadly Nightshade. You MUSTN'T attempt to eat ANY part of these plants apart from the fruit of the tomato and the NON-GREEN potato tubers.

I like the smell when I'm niping off the side shoots - but doesn't it take YONKS to remove the yellow staining afterwards? Soap seems to make it show up more brightly! And the state of my hand towels afterwards!

I wear it as a proud badge of a seasoned gardener, when I notice other people in the street with green hands, we lock eyes and give a small nod, it's a club

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

                    No!

You can't.....unless you want to be ill.

Rhubarb leaves are also poisonous, but NOT related.
Definitely do NOT eat any but the 'proper' part of tomato, potato etc.
Goji berries are apparently of the same family.
