    A friend of mine who is also a keen gardener asked me 'whats the official start of summer for us gardener's', i don't know myself, so i said i'll ask my mates here

                well i said to my mate that i always thought it was june 21st but aparantly for gardener's its different, and always said it's roughly end of may

                    For my definition, summer starts when veggies you couldn't plant out until after the frosts (like outdoor toms, or beans) come into flower, mid to late May.
                    Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
