  • summer flu

Just been sent home from school, have raging temperature, cracking headache and runny nose and aching limbs, sore throat. Typical summer flu nurse hubbie says, anyone got any remedies i might try, natural ones to perk me up. Am snuggled up in bed feeling pretty sorry for myself, got my reports to do, housework, lottie to look after, new parents evening tomorrow, too much work to be ill!!

Chop up half a lemon and bung it in a mug with a good teaspoon of honey and top up with boiling water. Sip slowly to ease your throat.

Hope you feel better soon, R&R is prob the only way to go really, and not overdoing it so you don't get better as quickly.

I like hod toddies myself when am feeling like that

Since I started taking garlic, vit c and echinaea (when I remember) I haven't had a cold / sniffles / flu or anything and the rest of the tribe have so it's working for me (watch me come down with it now lol)

Personally I would defo go for glutton's remedy, but if you can't grated ginger in hot water with a little lemon. And plenty of rest..

Those tubes of vit c tabs that you dilute in water always seem to work for me. I was given the tip from a science doctor a few years ago and always try to have some in.

                Wishing you better soon.

If you don't like Whiskey, try brandy instead.

My OH grandad swore by boiling up onions and drinking the juice!!

Not sure it'll work on swine flu though!

REst, sleep, drink lots and paracetamol.

Just got up after sleeping all afternoon and thought i'd check to see what you guys have suggested.
Onions, oranges, lemons, honey and most of all alcohol. Could make for a really interesting smoothie!! Thanks guys. Will have a duvet day tomorrow and try and sleep it off and drink lots of the combos suggested, it will help me sleep at least!

On a plus point, however rough you're feeling, if you're feeling up to logging on then you sure as hell haven't got flu! As I understand it the definition of flu is, if somebody was giving away £100 notes outside your house and you didn't have the energy to go out then you have flu, otherwise it's just a very bad cold / man flu. Hope you feel better soon.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
