    suffering suckertash I got me a lodger too

    in the greenhouse on the lottie last night ( not the swankiest of 10m x 3m palaces ever seen) pulling out some canes for bean wigwams and was nearly decappitated by a blackbird. so have a look and find she has her nest with 3 eggs i think neatly built on top of all my 4ft canes for the GH. managed to slide out all my 8 footers cos they were on opposite side. well my OH says without a moments hesitation you can't disturb her you can buy some canes ( see phil skip to GC with crispy new brown one to spend all by his self).
    any way if i can get my piccies of my phone i'll post you her picture.
    left her a couple off slugs on shelf and made sure she was insitu when i left hope she has babies ok.
    this will be a battle from the heart

      It's good luck to have a blackbird nesting in your greenhouse.

      (Well, it OUGHT to be anyway!)

        i have a mr and missus blackbird at the moment havent a clue where they are nesting but shes forever in my garden as she loves soaked raisens then mr comes along and oo he dun arf get a telling orf i think its loverly you have a blackbird in your greenhouse make me wonder how she really got in there though, i would of been worried about flying into glass etc,

          We have a blackbird nesting in the hedge behind our greenhouse.

          Rest of the year, disturb a blackbird and they make a racket. But when nesting, not a sound. Mr B collects grubs and worms 2 metres away from me in the garden and then dashes off secretively running in and out of cover so I can't follow where he is going.

            You really must leave her alone. I have a pair of blackbirds that next in my back garden, and every year they move their nest site to the shrub that really needs cutting back, so every year the shrubs get neglected but the blackbirds are doing fine.

              as i mentioned it's no palace and no glass. roof opaque corrugated plastic with one or two vents(holes to you and me) sides also plastic, holds the greenhouse up plenty of exits for them

                  GOOD NEWS UPDATE...................
                  well it seems that i didn'nt do my blackbird any damage to her or the nest
                  COS............
                  while sitting in the grenhouse doing nothing mr blackbird arrives snacks in mouth mrs nips of for tea and up pop at least 3 chirping littles mouths ready for their tea.
                  i'm so pleased for them and i got some nem canes into the bargain

                  the cycle of life goes on, what an inspiring thing it always is.

                    i've had a pair of blackbirds for a few years, i put slugs, snails and worms in a tray for them ...... and last week they appeared with 3 babies in tow, while i was digging ..... was really cute watching them jumping round
