  • Storing Plastic Bottles

Does anyone have a neat way of storing plastic bottles? I collect a lot to use as cloches, but they take up quite a bit of space. I did wonder about cutting them in half and stacking together on a pole in the shed. Come on, I know you'll have some good ideas for me.

Cut them in half and stack them together on a pole in the shed.

No idea where I got that from, it just came to me.

That's exactly what I do with mine. The bottoms are missing, so they're all threaded on very long canes and leaning in a spare corner of the veg garden!

Well, that is, when they're not being used as waterers, cloches or bird-scarers!

              recycle them.
or just cut the very bottom off, then extra big cloches

I cut them about 3 or 4 inches from the bottom Taff and use the bottoms for holding individual small pots so I can water from the bottom. I'm sitting here merrily cutting them up (strange use of that adjective I know) and they do stack together quite easily. I'll find a corner for them upstairs I suppose.

I just chuck the bottoms in the recycle bin, Flo - I saved them originally, then found I had no use for them. I spend an age cutting tops off some of the bottles, so I could elongate the cloches for my beans, as I sowed them too early last year, and we had late frosts. I didn't have enough, but, most of those that were affected actually re-grew from below the frost-damaged area, luckily.

I store them in the cupboard under the sink, so when you open the door to get washing powder they all fall out all over the floor
