  • Sprouting Potatoes?

Can anyone help with shop bought potatoes sprouting?
I have tried putting them in a dark potato bag and putting an apple in with them.
What can I do to stop them sprouting?

At this rime of year its the temperature that will make them sprout. Put them in the fridge or a root cellar/garage..............somewhere cold.

Although it's frustrating when shop bought spuds sprout, it's actually a good sign that no growth suppressants have been used to prevent sprouting... As for your problem, try buying in smaller quantities or eating them more quickly

You could always store them in my garage with mine
I could send OH to get them as garage is at bottom of garden

AP thanks for your "serious" suggestion

Some chippers use their empty bags for rubbish so you may need to smile sweetly while ordering your fish supper

I've bought a couple of bags of Rooster potatoes recently, but I'm not buying any more. They sprout within a week. In fact I've planted a few of them rather than throw them away!
