Default Spring

I just put the milk bottles out and got a hugh wiff of spring. Got Hubby and daughter (Amy) to sniff and Amy said 'Oh yeah I've been telling my friends to smell that all day, it's smells lovely'. I'm so pleased that she noticed the smell of spring appoaching.

That spring smell AND the fact that I have got washing out on the line two days running now. Will the tumble drier be retiring for summer soon??

My dwarf irises and hellebores are out, and today really feels like the first day of spring! I heard crossbills singing to each other this morning. There is anticipation in the air!

Out here too Birdie, as are the crocuses on the top terrace around the trees.

It's just glorious here now - this morning was grey, overcast and a bit \cold but all that's cleared now, the sky is Dordogne blue and clear and I'm going to be out there this afternoon.

Blissssssssssss

Any whiff of spring here was diluted this morning by a gale and heavy rain!

Yeh, I'm with Jennie, too wet and windy this morning which just meant a quick dash from front door to car then into office. What a shame - but glad some of you are enjoying it.

I always wake up one morning and think 'Ooh, it's spring, autumn, whatever. I haven't sensed the whiff of spring here yet though.

Snowdrops are out, also the cream and yellow crocuses, blue buds showing on the grape hyacinths in the front border, but the forsythia isn't showing colour on the buds yet!! Still, I think it's almost Spring proper!! Walked home from work in daylight today!!!

I think spring is really coming, both my potted Maidenhair tree (Gingko Biloba) has send out it's green shoots so lovely . I noticed my Conference pear tree are sending out some shoots (still covered like buds but getting bigger) and so as the Japanese Quince (Cido). The Narciscus flower buds are getting plum...so happy, hopefully no hard frost coming....

I went down by the canal today and snowdrops are out - lovely [didn't know we had any so a nice surprise]. I sat by the canal for 15 minutes in the sun- it was gorgeous.

The only thing worrying me is that does the lovely early weather herald another carp summer???
