  • sports day

It's my son't first proper sport's day at school and I know I will be blubbing all the way through... what am I like?!

I really hope there isn't a mum's race as I am rubbish at running, gravity is not on my side lol

They tell me my son is a very fast runner so no idea where he got that from!

I am surprised they are letting parents attend are they allowing you cameras, hope the weather keeps well, they will probably make you do the wheelbarrow race

Cameras were allowed but you has to sign a form first and wear a sticker. I have some great action shots!

My parents came too and my little boy beamed when he saw us all.

Unfortunately being a bit of a dreamer he ran the wrong way in one race. lol.

It was different to when I was at school as it was non-competitive races, ie they all did each one race in turn in class groups. Javelin (foam sticks) running with hoop on head, throwing the bean bags into a hoop, skipping with a rope, crawling, egg and spoon, sack race and my personal favourite... putting on extra clothes at stop points!

The each class did a lap of honour! Geat fun and the rain help off.

      I am exhausted

Were you spared the Mum's Race?

I'm glad your little boy was so pleased to see you. I got the cold shoulder from my eldest last year. Mind you, I was offering quite 'enthusiastic' support - clearly uncool
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Wouldnt have been a contest if there had been. One lethal stare from you would have had the mums wilting on the start line.

Running away from you when he had been a naughty boy?
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.
