My nan has just passed away and i will be visiting my mum (her mum has passed) tomorrow, i wanted some advice on what flowers i should take with me for my mum and the best type of flower to put into an arrangement for the funeral, ive tried googling for this information but all that pops up is thousands of flower shops/interflora type sites, i was hoping someone could offer some advice. OK it is important to go for what you know about your relatives here: did they love scented flowers (freesias then) or a certain colour (roses maybe)? Please pm me if you want some more ideas.Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to? -
This is really down to personal preference. For your Mum I would suggest taking whatever her favourite flowers are. For the funeral spray/arrangement - again down to personal choice, did your Nan have a favourite flower? If so try to incorporate it into your offering.Comment

Is it going to be a normal funeral or a green funeral or even cremation .
The reason i mentioned the different types of funeral is because if you make the wreath to big they do not allow them on green funeral sites .I had to make a name plaque for a friends daughter just before christmas she was 58 and she arranged her own funeral .Any way the size of the plaque maxi size was 9 x6 inches soft wood that will rot away no varnish and the sprays for christmas Holly only tied with raffia .
so if it is a green funeral this might help..

In season as cut flowers
Narcissi
Freesias
Early daffodils
Lily of the Valley (forced)
Hippeastrum
You may even find some forced hyacinth in blue, pink, lilac or white.
You may be lucky and find snowdrops
All year round imported
Roses (forced)
Multi- headed carnations and single headed carnations
Chrysanthemums
Orchid sprays
Lilies
If it was me I'd go for the freesias or lilies or hyacinths but then I love the perfumed flowers - lilies may be a bit too over the top for some people. I took flowers to my cousin's funeral arranged in a flat arrangement in oasis - greenery around the edge and built up with flowers and some green to fill.Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?Comment
