  • So you thought you knew about world affairs...?

I'd like to think that I am a reasonably well educated person who has a grasp of current affairs and who takes an interest in our world, what goes on in it, and the implications to our shores of foreign affairs - and then I did this little test.

    map game

Looks easy, doesn't it, just matching countries to the maps? Have a go - or perhaps I really am less well informed than I think. I'm certainly less well informed than I should be! Awful.

Managed to get 12 correct first time.

hadn't even heard of a couple of them!!!

'They' did something similar in America a few years ago...and the majority questioned couldn't even find France or the UK!
"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

    Location....Normandy France

Bladdy L Haze, that was difficult. I had trouble enough finding Egypt. KK, needless to say, did them all in about 3 minutes with only a few guesses - smart a@se!

Had a heck of a time doing that - though I never did history of that area at school and haven't seen a full map of it (only ever see the cut down ones on TV).

Thank you for this, I have promised myself to do this quiz every day until I get it right - I now know where Egypt is

Oh dear, 15 mistakes, useless, I knew the obvious ones, but the stans and mauritania, took up a lot of my errors.

The whole area is clearly a bit fuzzy to me.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

I was thinking rather more about how we've sent our soldiers to fight (and die) in this area on our behalf, and to my shame I can't even point the relevant bit out on a map, rather than where I'm planning to take my next holiday, GN...

Well I knew several of them, ans guessed right on a few more. The rest took 2 or 3 goes (and a couple took a lot more).

Mmmmm, nothing in your original post that mentioned "Where our troops were" . Those were some of the places I DID get right. But then I'd be very ashamed if I didn't...I have friends out there. And one of my friends Grand-Son goes out this month .
