  • Shock horror - Jardiniere not gardening - for a week!

Going to engerland again this evening to see the kids and granddaughter- weather is beautiful here but luckily the forecast says there will be some rain while we are away which means everything wont just wilt and die ..(there will be no frost) what a time to go away...next year there will be no leaving the garden from mid April to mid September....people will just have to visit us (and bring tea).
Have a lovely gardening week everyone and i'll be back on the forum on the 14th....................

I think you can make it Nicos if you have enough elder trees. I'll try and dig out a recipe.

Bon voyage Jardiniere. I know how it is - leaving the garden is awful in the summer

Hi Nicos. if you don't mind me butting in on your conversation here is an elderflower cordial recipe I use every year. 20 large eldflr heads, I usually use more. 1.8kg gran sugar.1ltr water. 75gm citric acid, 2 lemons. Wash elderflowers, I snip off main parts of stem, place in large bowl, In a large pan mix sugar with litre water, bring to boil stirring until sugar has dissolved, pour over elderflowers, add citric acid, grate in zest of lemons, slice the lemons and add to bowl. Cover and leave for 24hrs. Strain through double muslin decant into sterilised bottles, store in cool dark place. I use plastic bottles sterilised in milton then these will keep in the freezer for months. Goes really well to make a Kir in a not so good sparkling wine! Cheers, Val
