Have you seen how expensive flat pack sheds are! I think I could build one myself. Has anyone built there own shed?.

I haven't built my own shed but when we were looking for one we ended up just investing in a wooden one from a local company who delivered it and prepared the site properly as well. I think it was expensive at the time but it has lasted well, still wind and water tight as long as we re-do the preservative every year. -
We splashed the cash on a new shed 3 years ago, still standing and still waterproof, well worth the investment. It was put up for us by the shed company we bought it from.Gardening ..... begins with daybreak

OH built himself a massive (20ft+) shed at the old house and a lovely henhouse for me here which is basically a shed but with a few requested features!
It does work out cheaper but he spent quite a while planning, drawing and building plus looking at different timber to find the cheapest/best.
He's building a treehouse next year!Comment

I got my shed from ebay second hand £40.00
I was a two year old shed from B&Q cost £250.00 new
I had the take it down and remove it from someones garden
it just needed a lick of paint
I couldn't by the wood for that price
I've also seen some on loot.com / freecycle / freegle
try placing a wanted ad freecycle for a shed you never know ?
someone on the allotment has just made a shed from pallets just nailed together
two pallets high with old doors nailed on top for a roof then wrapped in black plastic

I paid £100 for a new eBay one (delivered to my site). The guy said he made it himself, it looked good when new.
It's not that good 2 years on: the wood has dried/shrunk since it went up, all the knots have popped out leaving holes and there are 5mm gaps between a lot of the planks.
The door has always leaked.
Mysterious dark patches appear on the floor (not leaks, maybe resin or something?)

I got a 6' x 8' shed via freecycle, just needed re-felting as the roof bends in half when removed. Got the new felt off freecycle too, so my costs were just petrol and feeding the helpers.Comment

I got mine for free off freecycle, had to take it down and transport it home (managed to borrow a van for the day) but a coat of pain and some new roof felt and it's perfect - much better than a lot of other ones at the lottie
- also has a lovely bench in it made out of an old wardrobe door with a bedside chest of drawers for storage - all for free.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
