We live 600m down a dirt track. The electricity company (EDF) announced last year that they wanted to run a cable down the track to serve a new wind farm up the valley. All along they have assured us that the track would not be closed - the track has been closed since Thursday!!!!!
This means that a simple 600m journey has been replaced by a 10 minute cross country trip, anf I don't have a 4x4. Last night every workman that passed had been taught the stock phrase ' I am verry sorree'! The trucks stopped last night just 100m from the house so they should pass us before lunch......
This morning after leaving the children at school I have parked the car at the top of the track and walked down - but I couldn't do that yesterday with the bins and shopping.
And you should see the mess they are making of the 14th century terraces....
I might not be so annoyed if we got more than 190 volts!!! (the cables are 23000!)
