I adore the first three series - they are my and my OHs inspiration for trying to change our lifestyle, but haven't been so fussed by the more recent ones - especially the one with the vegetarian butchers apprentice. However I haven't actually seen any of the current series, its on my sky plus box waiting for me.

We watch it too, thought hanging strawbs in wellies was inspirational but does anyone else think that Hugh is a bit of an Uncle N*bhead? I mean, I bet all his mates take the mick out of him for being such a dweeb. Those rubbish jokes/puns he's always cracking, I like him and that, but he really is a bit of a dork Oh and he's a total p*ss head too.

The original idea was good but it's know becoming a little exausted, but i would sooner watch this type of programe,it;s better than most thing's on the telly.
Might be an idea to document how people on here live this kind of lifestyle, what they grow and eat and how they go about their live's

This is the first series I have seen and I am liking it. I haven't seen last nights yet, recording it now on more 4 as forgot to set it to record last night. I didnt like the slug thing last week, that was a bit wrong.
                  I hate slugs!!

                    whoo !

been watching hugh for years and you have to admit that he has done very well selling the food for free idea again.
Yes I watch it but he does probably get influenced by directors and producers to do stupid things like. Having a vegatarian train as a butcher, why bother when there are thousands of 'ordinary folk' who would have loved the chance.
You have to understand TV, it needs controversy otherwise it is not going to be watched.

I just get the impression and (Himself agrees) that he's probabaly the subject of constant affectionate teasing from his mates - I mean the hankerchief on the head thing -reminded me of something me dad might do And I'm sorry but he IS nearly always drunk/drinking/preparing to be drunk. I think it was in last weeks ep where he and another guy were discussing something in a field on a nice sunny day and they were leaning on each other, slurring their words and invading each others personal space in ways that only tipsy people or lovers do. It was hilarious cause they quite clearly weren't supposed to be ratted.

On a more serious note I do think he, along with Jamie Oliver and Ramsey have done a lot of good with their little crusades and revolutions. I know they've taken stick for it, particular the Cockerney one but I think if you can use your position/fame/celebrity to bring change then why the hell not?

Oh and I agree about the slug thing, that was just wrong on every possibly level, the slime, the 'oh I think they taste bitter cos we haven't gutted them, I know lets gut them and see if they taste nicer.' Or 'I wonder if they taste nice with a marinade, or maybe even batter.' I have a better idea: just - don't.

Love HFW, but am a bit disappointed with the newer series - too "TV'ish". Very impressed with what he has done, but it's all gone a bit commercial. Still watch it religiously though, and get tips from most programmes. Gooseberry and Strawberry jam! Defo do that one next year!
