  • Ripe Sweetcorn

    I cooked some sweetcorn yesterday grown from seed( pats self on the back )
    Some was alright and was yellow but some stayed white is this cos its not ripe we didnt eat it, but could we, in any case I didnt fancy it being white.

    Hi Jackie,

    Does it look like this? If so, it wasn't properly pollinated. Further on down the thread the more experienced grapes give very good advise (as usual )

        Could it be one of the whiter varieties - especilly if you didn't buy commercial seed and acquired it from a seed swap from home saved stuff?

          jackie j is it the tips of the cob that are white?
          Mine were that I picked early for show, lower down the cob were fine and yellow....ate them anyway... tasted good to me!

            Tryng to remember what they were I think super sweet sweetcorn or something like that bought fresh seed as it was my first year.
