I would go for firefox personally But unless you spent a lot of time online or do more than a basic bit of surfing you probably won't notice to much difference between any of them.

It's a choice everyone who's on-line in Europe will be presented with over the next few weeks thanks to the European Commission.

I use firefox mostly, love the add-ons for advert andpop-up blockers, web developer tools etc etc, and the tabbed browsing.
Also use opera very occasionally, fast and light.
Haven't touched IE in years, hated it,it's nasty looking and cumbersome. Don'tlike the ideaof GoogleChrome, just because it seems like it's google's turn to take over the world, and they already scan your mail to put adverts up for you to click on[not with firefox though, hee hee!!!]

I've been using Firefox for years now, and while I've tried most of the other main ones (not Google Chrome yet for similar reasons to taff) I couldn't be happier with it and I'd recommend it to anyone.

As far as I'm concerned it's got the best "tabs" of any browser, the "addons" for extending the functionality are fantastic and in my experience it is far, far quicker than Internet Explorer.

Opera is OK, but though I have it on my computer I almost always choose Firefox.

Oh and if there are sites you check every day FireFox has an addon called "Morning Coffee" which, with a single click, will open up all the pages you tell it to so you can read them while you drink your "morning coffee" and no need to type in the addresses or click on the bookmarks.

Chief Luddite here - not happy!

I went away for most of January to come back and find my internet connection had gone back to the stone age and I couldn't access my email. I've downloaded google chrome (only one that could cope with my pc that fell off the back of Noahs Ark) but what have virgin done to my email account..... wailly, wailly!

                        Shadylane.
Maybe not LOCALLY - but google are somewhat notorious for being massive hoarders of data, and it's not anonymous data either. If he wants "no history" for privacy reasons Chrome is probably the worst choice of them all.

I'm a voter for FF too Snadge, although the only reason I have it is cos my IE died a painful virused death, and the wonderful Bride was kind enough to help me put it on.
I am a proper Luddite, have no real comprehension of the computer world, but FF seems to be very simple to use (ie, I can use it).

I have used Konqueror, though I don't think that's available on anything other than Linux so probably not in the popup window that IE is showing, and found it OK. It's not as powerful as Firefox, but it's lightweight and quick. If you've got Linux and KDE you've probably already used it - if you've not then this information is pretty much worthless.
