  • a reason not to use glass...

We're packing, which is bad enough on a rare sunny day.

Mr Sheds just watched me carefully bubblewrap £200 worth of glass picture frames ... then he stood right on them.

I've spent the last 2 hrs carefully picking shards out of the carpet.

how to dispose of all the glass? I am smashing it into manageable pieces and wrapping in newspaper, but it's going to take all day!

don't you have a glass recycling bin nearby? put the broken bits in a plastic box without wrapping them, and can just chuck them in then.

I take it popping it shard by shard in the bottlebank is out of the question?
Why is it things like that always happen when you're busy anyway?!(I'm presuming if you're packing you're busy!)

Can't you send him away somewhere till you've finished moving?

I like Shirl's suggestion the best!

What I did was: carefully carry the pictures to the kitchen worktop
Wrap each large piece of glass in a teatowel
                  Smack with hammer
Unfold teatowel full of broken glass into a small cardboard box
                  Seal box with parcel tape
                  Label "broken glass"
                  Throw at Mr Sheds' head

The rest of the move is going great ~ I left him with an A4 " To Do " list while I went up the lotty!
He couldn't argue after the glass episode
