  • Raising Money for Charity

    Hi

I am doing a 10k walk next week and plan to do a few more charity events throughout the year and am looking for ways/ideas on how to raise money.

I do not want to keep asking family/friends/work colleagues as this is going to be quite expensive for them.

The charity suggests using social network sites to make people aware of the events you are doing for example Face book, but I do not have a face book account, as it is not something I am really into.

Any help/suggestions/advice would be gratefully received.

    Many thanks
    Bye

As I have done - put a link in your signature. If you write a blog, post it on there (I've a 'widget' on my blog that is provided by the justgiving website).

Post a link on the signature of your email account.

Contact your local newspapers, newsletters, local community resources (village/town hall) and let them know.

If there are any affiliated charity shops locally ask them if they'd mind promoting it in their shop.

    Good luck.

      Hi

Thank you for the advice. Not sure how you go about setting up a blog.

Can you sign up to free blog sites?

Can you write anything on a blog or do you have different sites for different areas?

      Many thanks

A blog can be about anything you like - absolutely anything.

I use Blogger for mine - but a quick search on google will give you all the options and other providers.

It's free - it's relatively easy (if you can post on here, you should be ok).

Why not start a blog on your charitable endeavours? Following your progress through the year - training, events and so on.

          Thanks HeyWayne

I thought I had set one up but now can not get in to it.

I know this would be a bad idea. I am not good at getting these things to work.

                  Well, it's a start.

I'm presuming you've clicked the 'sign in' link in the top right?

                    Hi HeyWayne

I am so stupid I should never have started this and got you involved.

I tried that earlier and it would have it.

I not sure I am doing it right, in the username box do I put the user name or the email address I set the account up with.

Many thanks for answering all my queries.

Hey, don't mention it - it's not that often I can provide assistance, so happy to help when I can.

I look forward to reading the blog.
