  • Raining and trying keep amused

It's tipping down with rain, so can't go over to the lotties. Shouldn't go there really anyway at present, untill op wound heals properly.

Decided to design some new items for OH's doll's house stuff.

Just looked at the doll's house and do you think she'd mind if I ripped up the lawn and put in some veg?

I reckon she would be well impressed.
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

Sounds like a great idea. If you ripped up the lawn and put in a formal potager perhaps you might even get away with it!

Best of luck with the recovery,

Don't think the Victorian's had polytunnels and don't have time to go to Kew to measure up plans for the greenhouses there (also don't have the room), mind you a 12th scale replica of the Crystal Palace would be something to behold.

She most definitely lets me touch her doll's house, mind you only when she wants something done.

I put in individual floor boards which I cut. Glazed properly each window. Plasterboarded it so I could hid the wiring.

Today I have made just over 300 greetings cards for her (mainly for her North American customers).

slate would be lovely, but £450 to slate a dolls house didn't compute in my big scheme of things lol, it's a georgian one, as long as it looks like slates i don't really care

I keep thinking to myself that I will build her a really nice house (I used to make them to order years ago, was a wooden toy maker), so she has a "box standard" one at present.

This why she sells doll's house stuff, building up a kitty to have something really special one of these days.

I refuse to take her to Windsor Castle because she might get ideas "above her station".

lol windsor castle would be great, i've made loads, but just haven't the room here, they had their own room at the old house, i also make hats, and cheese plants. it started with my first shop, which i decided would be a hat shop, and people admired them, so i started making them ...... never gonna make me a millionaire though lol.

the last one i have still isn't finished, the garden has kind of taken over, i keep meaning to, then something else crops up.

I dont know if its still there but Teignmouth in devon used to have a wonderful dolls house shop with all sorts of stuff even greenhouses and sheds.
                      Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
                      and ends with backache

I was thinking more about the "Queen's Doll's House" at Windsor Castle.

I must admit I used to enjoy making the wooden toys, although as you say, I wasn't about to become a millionaire.

As an offshoot, I was asked to make a braille teaching aid for a young girl just starting school and made some prototypes that came to the interest of the RNIB.

I did not have the money to fully develope them so gave the rights to them. Often wondered if they used them or not. However it was a great satisfaction to me that the young lass enjoyed using the aids I made and made good progress at school.

Nice when you are able to put something back as it were.
