  • Quite Exciting...

    Well, today's the day.

About 10 years ago I decided that Civil Engineering was in essence, not what i wanted to do with my life. I moved, and decided to take advantage of my long empty evenings by doing courses - I started with A level English and Art.

I ended up doing an English [and psychology] degree, with the idea that, if all else in my life failed - I could always go to Goa and teach English for a living.

Well, things didn't get worse, they got better. I got a good job, moved to a role of a lifetime, got promoted, got a better job, was headhunted and became a Director of a small company. Along the way I found a fab Other Half, and a nice house...But I still always wanted to teach.

We've decided tonight that, unless something Big Happens between now and September - I'm going to apply to become a teacher.

    OHMYGOSH.

Decision made. Now I can only leave it in the hands of the Uni to turn me down/turf me out.

    Please wish me luck.

Turn you down? If they've got a micron of sense, they'll bite yer hand off!

Wishing you all the very best
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Thanks...need to calm down [hot bath I think].

Never thought I would turn down a Director's job to become a teacher but that's the way of the world I guess.

Good Luck with it...although I'm sure you don't need it!
So are you thinking of teaching in a uni or school...High or Primary?
The money might not be so great(although I obviously have no idea what your earnings are now & tis of no concern!)...however I'm sure the job satisfaction would make up for it over & beyond!
                All the best with it!x

Surely most needed for today's students - teachers who actually want to be teachers.

                    All good wishes.

They'll grab you Zazen - and they'll be fools if they don't. They're looking for people with experience of the world who want to give up what they have to teach. I'm sure you'll be an inspirational teacher. There are kids out there who need you. Go for it.
