Aren't they amazing!! They never seem to be what it says on the packet, but still very good value. A few examples of my surprises:
    1. Miniature gladioli that were supposed to be white with purple throat and came up pink
    2. One blackcurrant and one redcurrant - both redcurrants, but seem to be different varieties. Not complaining too much as one is early and really sweet. Eaten lots and put some in the freezer.
    3. Lilies "Blackout" planted in a large tub and now developing flowers - it's a bit early to tell but they look as if they're going to be orange instead of the lovely deep red on the pack front.

I've never had pound shop plants before, there isn't one in Skipton (too posh?!), but I've had them from Aldi and they all came out what they were supposed to.
Still, if you've ended up with nice plants, for only a pound, I guess it's worth the gamble

I bought a couple of reduced red/white currants from Lidl early this year.

Think they were the extravagantly expensive price of 67p each!

Have grown well in their pots this year - bulking up - I'm hopeful of fruit next summer!

You can get some really good bargains if you shop around - particularly when the stock changes or it looks past its best.

My venture into flowers was an African Violet which had a nice ceramic pot. Got it for 75p and would have paid the £3.99 they wanted the day before if I'd had the cash on me! Parent plant has now shed its mortal coil - but I have at least 6 new plants which are not quite ready for flowering but are looking very healthy indeed!

The Pound Shop roses have been good, but their blue& white anemones were all scarlet.
