  • Posh car!!

I have a lovely friend whose nearest and dearest works for a prestigous car company.
He often brings said very posh cars home to do test trials, mr miffy has always dreamed of having a ride in said car, it is a Bentley, and today we are off to do just that.
He is so excited!! He says he is going to pose by the side of the car with his thumbs up so i can take his picture so it looks like he just won the lotto!!
Silly sausage, i did say he better dress up for the occassion and polish his shoes, can you imagine getting in a car like that with muddy shoes!!
Will let you know later whether they are as good as OH seems to think they are.

Have a lovely time. When we were kids my parents couldnt drive and as dad died when I was six we never had a car. I always said I wanted a white sports car for my 21st never did get one though. We had a cousin who lived in manchester and he worked for Mercedies and when they came down on holiday they were always in a posh car and even had record players in them. We were made up even though it was a squash cos we all used to pile in, there was five of them and me and mum so how we did it I dont know.
Now I drive an L reg micra lol

My claim to fame is that I'VE actually sat in a Bentley turbo and played with the knobs and dials!
Someone who's garden I used to maintain had a son who worked for Bentley.
Apparently Bentley Tee's are 2.5 tonne and can do nought to 60 in 4.5 seconds.......you wouldn't think it possible would you!

The poshest car i have sat in was a prewar . Rolls Royce with the hand brake on the outside and it was painted Royal Purple .
It used to belong to Lord Somebody or other who used to own the Cunard shipping line prewar it was parked in a private garage waiting to go to Measham posh car auctions i wonder where it is now....jacob

When I was still at school a friends father worked for BMW and was in charge of awarding advertising contracts. I know BMWs are nothing special now but at the time (30 odd years ago) they weren't as common as they are now.

I once asked him why, when so few poeple could afford a BMW, did they bother advertising them so widely. His reply just sums up some peoples desperate need for an ego massage.

BMW spend so much on advertising because the 25% of people that could afford one like the other 75% of the population to be reminded that they can't.

Since then I've never been overly impressed by flash cars.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

We have just got back from the drive, i didn't get a look in, OH and my friends hubbie took the car for a one and a half hour spin!! Apparently it is a pre production car that they attach all the new gizmos to, to test.
Hubbie came back like a giddy school boy, he just kept grinning, he said when it accelarated it left his insides back where they started from and threw him into the seat, it had special valves in the exhaust to make it sound more throaty and he said the stereo was so good it was like being in a classical concert!!
Only trouble was he had to drive home in our boring old vectra and i had to listen to all the technical stuff!!
He had a lovely time so it was worth it and i have been promised a go in one the next time my friends OH brings one home.
Tough job he has though i suppose someone has to do it!!

OOH! He can be forgiven for lusting after a Bentley. Its'a while since I stopped wearing my anorac, so unless the models have changed recently, a Bentley Turbo R can out - accelerate any Porsche

I've driven an ageing Bentley T2 - Big, very heavy, and went like stink! Haven't liked small cars since lol. Shame I can't afford one, but probably best - they're not designed to carry lawn mowers, hay bales and Chook food in, are they?!

Reminds me of when my mum won a brand new car for a weekend, so she came to visit me at uni in it! ( from east angular to wales so worth it lol) and my boyfriend at the times parents were also visiting and I went up in her estimation for having a nice car! It made a change from the old bangers we normally had that barely got to wales and back lol

My OH still owes me a 'ride in a Roller' promised as compensation for missing out when our daughter got married. HE got to ride in the Roller (gold coloured), and I was stuck doing 'secondary chauffeur duty' in our own car.
