Default Poorly feet!

Hi everyone! thank you SO much for all your support and help during my recent move of occupation! Trouble is - I'm really enjoying my new job - my little tootsies are suffering somewhat! It's only when you actually DO a job that you realise how hard people work behind the scene to bring that service/product etc to you.

Has anyone got any ideas on how to look after my little pinkies? Goodness me! I've got blisters on my little toes that are the size of beetroot! HELP!

Ive tried soaking my feet, wrapping them in cotton wool and cream.......HELP!
Ta in advance! Bernie

SWMBO swears by calendula ointment for blisters.

Glad you are enjoying the new job.

If I am not mistaken most supermarkets sell it, its a homeopathic remedy so Morrisons should have it. if not try Boots or any health shop.

Hi Dex - glad you are enjoying the new job. Got no ideas for your feet though. Can you wear a good really comfortable pair of shoes? Recently I bought a rather expensive pair of walking trainers for a very cheap price (in a sale and as I am a size 3 always a bargain!). They are just sooooo comfortable I hardly know I've got the things on.

Good luck! Are you going to be growing again this year?

Dex, to make your feet hard (and I apologise for this in advance) but we always used to teach our new recruits to rub them in pee. I appreciate collection can be messy, and the application isnt fun either, but there is something in urine that toughens the skin on the feet. Also, whatever you dont use, stick on the compost heap.
Well fitting, worn in shoes are also a must, but if they are leather rub them in saddle cream to make them soft.
Finally, the first couple of weeks will be painful anyway as its something you havent done for a long time. Just accept the fact that in a few weeks all this pain will be gone and you will be fitter, stronger, feeling no pain and looking forward to eating the benefits.

They do say that wee helps to clear up athlete's foot too. My own theory is when you've weed on your feet you wash and dry them VERY thoroughly - and THAT's what clears it up. If I'm going to be on my feet a lot I use a little spray from Boots - foot cooling spray. Really makes the hot dogs feel comfy again. As to hardening the feet, in my Youth Hostelling days we used to use methylated spirits from the chemist - rub on. Don't know if you can still buy it - H&S etc.?

I understand that surgical spirit (any chemist) is good for hardening the feet (and it doesn't smell as bad as pee), plus it's a good disinfectant for injuries. I recently used some on our cat and it stopped him getting an abscess from a bite.

Meths or salt water is good for hardening the skin up. Udder cream is good for softening the skin again when you have time off or want to show off your feet in sandals for the summer

My feet really suffered when i worked in a shop. total sympathy for you. I tried all kinds of sprays, creams, gels...

the most effective thing was to have 2 pairs of shoes at work, of different heel heights. Change over at lunchtime, its like having new feet.

When hiking great distances in Morocco I was advised to use men's aftershave to toughen up my feet before we went.

Caused a few raised eyebrows going into a meeting smelling of Old Spice (OH always had a beard so had to use some of my dad's aftershave!).

Glad the new job's going well, I too, worked in a shop (with two flights of stairs) and it was a killer at first. You do toughen up after a while/get used to it.
I'd recommend Croc shoes, they are wonderfully comfortable when you're on your feet all the time and they're roomy so if your feet swell it's not a problem.

I agree that salty warm water is good for toughening the skin up on your feet

Gel insoles in your shoes really help.

I'm on my feet allday in my job, and they really do make a difference. So glad you are enjoying your new job
