  • paddling pool ? for a labrador !

I bought my dog a paddling pool this morning, when i was stood filling it, i began to realise i think i must be mad !!! He a black lab called William and he loves to splash about in the water, the only thing is if he swims in ponds and jumps in puddles, he gets a horrible red rash on his boldy bits on his under carriage, then spends days afterwards scratching ! and feeling sorry for himself ! i maybe mad ! he loves his new pond though !

Well that makes two of us mad then - dragged out the paddling pool the dogs have had for a couple of years and the bl**dy mice had chewed it
Trundled off down to Argos and bought one of the sand/water pits (come in two halves) - girl at till asked did I want to buy 3 bags of sand as well - without thinking I said 'no - its for the dogs' - bl**dy shop erupted in laughter.

Mine love it - hope William gets hours of enjoyment out of it - how sad are we Must try to get out more

No, not mad, just hopelessly in thrall to a black Lab. It happens to the best of us! Many are the summer (and spring and autumn) mornings when I've got up, realized it's going to be warm and so we've driven to Theo's favourite beach (90 miles!!!) just so the old boy could have a dip. He's sadly no longer with us, but I treasure the memories those 'swimming days'. Even though he would roll in the sand afterwards then leave it all in the car and even though we would collect a crowd when we sat on the beach (I mean, hasn't anyone seen a black Lab delicately lick an iced lolly before?)
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Thankyou for your replies !!! , Its so nice to know i am not mad !!! i do love my william though, i felt so sorry for him the last time i took him for a walk, he stood peering into the pond desperate to jump in and he wouldnt, as i think he knows, it causes itchy`s !, so the paddling pool it was ! he stood waiting for it to be filled then did a huge belly flop into it !!!

sounds like Sinders, except she decides to roll in it and wonders why she has water in her eyes, does it everytime

You need smaller pets. My conure enjoys a dip too, but he can fit in a teacup.

Niki, i think your sinders nudging the cat in would have been funny to watch ! but then if she had, im not sure pegging him on the line by his ears likes williams toys would have been acceptable !
