Default OMG so stressed

We have been selling our house FOREVER (well it was a year in May, feels like forever). We had a couple of sales fall through and found our current buyer mid August. He has no chain. Great we thought.
But his motgage company has now had 3 surveys (normal one, electrical one, damp and timber one). And now they want ANOTHER normal survey. We are very confused as to why, buyer says he has no idea why, his mortgage advisor says they have changed which mortgage but in the same company, buyer says he hasn't changed mortgage.
It is all taking SO long. His solicitor hasn't been in contact with ours at all (we only got as far as solicitors the week before last).

But the most stressful thing, we are supposed to be moving to Australia. We can't afford to go if we don't sell the house. I am booked onto a horticulture course in Oz starting the 4th of Feb. But we can't hand in notice at work etc until we KNOW the house sale is going through. But we are having to pay money out now and it could all be for nothing. There is no way we could find another buyer in time even if we put it back on the market. OMG. AHhhhhh.

Anyway, I will stop going on now,

hope it all works out, they are a nightmare - mortgage companies, funny they can never give a reason for this, just think they like to create more paperwork and headaches! good luck!!!!

Keep in contact with your solicitor and estate agent, phone them and be pleasant and ask them whats going on. Keep on top of them, keep positive.

If it all went tits up could you sell at auction, could you rent it out via a management company? There's always a way. Good luck.

Keep ringing people up. A friend of ours used to work in a solicitor's office working on conveyancing straight after she left uni. She said the system was that you took out the file when the client rang up - then it went back on the top. You worked through them in that order, top down. You need to make sure yours is regularly put on the top!

Best of luck with it - I hope it all comes out in the wash.

Hello Blossom

I can see why you're stressed. Selling a house and emigrating would be stressful even if it all ran smooothly. Are you moving alone or do you have a family to move too?

It appears the first survey flagged up problems with the electrics and damp course. I don't know why they would want to repeat the normal survey again though. If they would just give you the reasons it would help you make plans.

Sympathies with you, I hope everything goes smoothly from now on.

Kind regards
Tracey

Take deep breaths and try not to worry too much, everything happens when the time is right, keep ringing them but dont stress, worse case sinario you will have to join your course late, so dont dwell on it, you still have some time.

Thanks everyone.
We haven't used an estate agent so we have been phoning the buyer direct. I phoned him today after the survey (which seemed to go fine). He said he has paid for all the searches at his solicitors, and has his deposit money in place. He says 'they' (not sure if he means the solicitor or his mortgage advisor who we have also been talking to) have told him that the paperwork will all be done by the first week in December. That sounds quite soon to me though if he has only just paid for the surveys.

Unfortunetly we need to be on the course to get into Australia. If we miss the Feb intake then we have to wait another year. And we would loose lots of money we have had to pay out, not to mention another year added to the biological clock (it is a two year course).

Lucky there is just myself, other half and the dog moving (who has her blood tests in a couple of weeks and who's flight it already booked, along with quarenteen as there is a very long wait). Could be worse, we could have kids already.

Anyway, I am a bit calmer now. Thanks again

Just keep sight of how exciting it all is, a new life in a new country and all that. Remember why you're going through all this right now, it WILL all work out. Sending hugs and good luck vibes through the vine ....

Thanks very much everyone.
I suppose I am more pessimistic because this time last year I had a job offer in Sydney, and we had a buyer for our house. It lasted a whole 3 weeks before both the job and the house fell through in the same week. We had already sold one of our cars (which we didn't replace, ahhhh), I just don't feel like I can get excited as I was last time, and it didn't work out. But this time we are shelling out more and more money as it is getting closer.

I always find that when I think that things are going really badly, all of a sudden things perk up and everything goes really well, no matter what it is! I'm sure that this will be the case for you, just bide your time and before you know it - everything will be hunky dory! Best wishes to you for the future! Dexterdog
