Opening ceremony is lunchtime today~don't know if they kick off straight away?I quite like watching the gymnastics but that's about it~& that's a take it or leave it!
Don't know a lot about horses but was angry the other day that despite knowing how much the animals will suffer in the heat & smog trainers have been gradually accustomising their animals to the conditions so they can be shipped over to compete!Like I say I don't know much about horses but sounds quite cruel to me!

Well its the same for the athletes, especially the long distance ones, I thought the venue was poorly thought out. Its mostly political these days and has little to do with what is good for the competitors.

At least the athletes can properly understand the adjustments needed.Like I said I don't know a lot about horses but I'm presuming Mr Ed wasn't real & that you can't actually sit & have a proper chat with a horse & explain what's going on!

I see your point, but its the same for both, even though the athletes know whats happening their bodies cannot adjust easily. The reason for taking the horses over early would be for the same reasons as athletes, to acclimatise to the conditions so that difficulties with breathing are minimised. These horses are very well treated and are very valuable to their owners, if they thought for one minute they were having difficulty they would pull the horse up.

i have travelled with horses all over the world, they do acclimatize pretty quickly, and the horses are those riders livelihood, they want to make everything as hassle free for the horses as possible, so don't worry, they will be fine .... and they are checked daily by vets at the olympics, and if theres any problems the horse won't be allowed to compete.

Yawn! Oh, sorry, did someone say something?
I'm bored with The Games already. I'll be homicidal in 3 weeks time!

Double whammy - olympics and footie both really kick off tomorrow.

I hate sport; and will probably have a 100% weed free lottie by September.

I did laugh yesterday when 5 live asked Sarah Brightman her opinions on China and their human rights record and whether she thought about this when accepting the gig...her response was that she wasn't really aware of the issues.

                            Hmm.

FG: why couldn't I have found a man who didn't like sport when I lived down south???? We could have been chums - out partying whilst the sporty ones were - well doing what sporty people do I suppose.
