  • Old cook books

My OH has been going through some books all of which are old vegetarian cook books, one is a herb book and it has loads of remidies using herbs as well as other things. Talk about potions and lotions, some of the herbs or whatever I have never heard of. lol

Will probably put them in a charity shop.

Hi Jackie, I'll take a book or two off your hands if you're looking to get shot of them (will obviously pay postage). I love cook books and was just looking to get some more vegetarian ones as first year growing our own...

Someone has already asked me for them but if they decide not to have them they will be yours.
Two books I was given for christmas are ' what to do with all those courgettes' and ' what to do with all those root vegetables ' both good books. I also recieved for subscribing to gyo the ' food from your garden and allotment' book again a really good book.

there was a book in the last cancer research shop i was in (3 weeks ago). A 1950's readers digest garden book. When i opened it, it smelled really old and there were newspaper clipping about related gardening articles that were nearly 40 years old.

I felt like i was tresspassing on someones intimate thoughts.

I closed the book over and left it there. I was easily the first person to share thier book and thoughts in over 30 years.

I was at a church sale and under the stall was a huge Mrs Beeton's book from I the late 1800's. I asked if someone had bought it and put it aside for collection later? "Oh that thing, was the reply" No , I took it off the stall because it was tatty and no-one would want THAT rubbishy thing"

Jokingly I said " It would make a good doorstop for someone!"Lol ......................."You can have it if you want it?" says she and thrust the book into my mitt.

I still have it and it's brilliant! I offered her 50p which was the going rate for ALL the books on the stall................but she would only take 10p!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
