Default ok i may be regretting this now.....

wish me luck, i am BACK TO SCHOOL tomorrow, for the first time in 24 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am entering Uni to start my degree, something i should have done when i left school, but didnt! Big Mistake!!!!

So as i enter the classroom as a mature student, think of me, i have packed my new snazzy notepad and pencil case and i will try not to forget my apple for the teacher

Also can i add, good luck to Piskie as I know you too are back to school soon as well x

Congrats for being so brave. I fancied doing an evening course or suchlike but the subjects I was interested in aren't in my area so that was the end of that.

I am off to study a Foundation Degree in Early Years (2 years), followed by another year to complete a BA Hons, then I have to also re-take GCSE Maths & English, in the next 3 years and then after a year of teacher training I will be putting all my knowledge into the brains of 3-5 year olds!! LOL!!

Now i feel stressed writing that lot down, i am hoping to have as much fun as Piskie will in hers, let us know how you get on on Thursday Piskie xx

I'm back again on Thursday as well - although I never really left as I've studied something or other pretty much since leaving college.

It's great being a 'mature student', I love it. Much better than when you were younger.

I'm studying to be a gardener but unlike SS I only have to be there one day a week not full-time - can't afford full-time as I have to work.

You'll be fine SS - enjoy

Good luck to all you mature students. I did a few evening courses while I was working (Psychology, child care stuff) and then got my degree at age 34.
I think that's enough for me, I'm only reading for pleasure now.

Good luck to all mature students. I did a 2 year certificate in archaeology (about 10 years ago now) and it was hard to get back into studying. Particularly so since this involved a lot of essay writing and my degree in Geology and A levels in sciences hadn't involved anything like that. You do take it more seriously than first time round though!

And Snadger - you obviously know some students!

Good luck, girls! There's nothing wrong with studying later in life. If you'd studied straight after school without being ready for it, chances are you'd have wasted your time there.

Don't be too norty in Fresher's week, Squashysu! Good luck to you to, Piskie!

Good luck to you.

I left school at 16, but always wanted to further my education, I did that later in the same way you are.

The only pitfall is that its addictive!

I only meant to do three years for a marketing degree, but ended up staying for 6 years and ending up with the degree in marketing and a masters degree on top!

I met some great friends, and had a really good time. It was hard work and I was incredibly tired some times, but it paid to be persistent and continue

You'll have a great time!

good luck squashsu - it'll be worth it though! I'm also back to school shortly (well sort of), via Open University - start in November, doing Spanish in the first year! I'm a bit worried about time I'll need to put in, but it's mostly over the winter, so shouldn't affect the veg growing too much!?!?! Here's hoping!

Enjoy!

I returned to Uni aged 32 and loved it. I'm pretty certain that you don't need luck, as I know you'll be fine, but I wish you luck anyway. Enjoy it, love BM.

Good luck to you. I`m sure you will love it.
My brother went to uni after doing an Open University course when he was medically retired through bad health. He did 3 years at Oxford before moving to the Royal Holloway in London before he died aged 39. He loved every minute of it and never regreted doing it.

Thanks for all the lovely good luck messages, cause god i am gonna need it LOL!!!!

OMG, what a shocker, even though i am classed as a fulltime student i am only 1 day a week at Uni, but i have to do work through my work every day and then assignments, essays, reports, presentations etc......

So now i am enrolled and I have my gorgeous photo on my student card and I get a discount at McDonalds, which really helps LOL and get a discount on my Council Tax LOL!!!!

I am with a lovely bunch of girls, but my head is full of stuff now and it was only induction day, some people were looking confident and the tutor left the room and i said to them all

"Am i the only one here thinking SH1T!!!!!" and they all laughed and said "NO, we all are" LOL!!!

Anyway, i have my first essay to do this week, so i better get sorted this week and get off this site LOL!!

Cor Piskie, i hope you have a lovely day on Thurs x

Good luck to all going 'back to school' the autumn. I'm off to do RHS Horticulture stuff starting next Thursday. Hopefully I'll find out what I've been doing wrong all these years!
