Default Oh Bottoms.... Why Didn't I Check The Radiator First???

So you may be wondering why on earth Shortie, she with a 5 y/o and 6 month old is still up 1.45am.....???

Was about to dissappear to bed at around 12.30 after a blood sugar test on little man when I realised I hadn't put out tomorrow's uniform, and then couldn't find any clean which confused me...

So I've been sat up doing an emergancy wash for tomorrow morning and had to wait for it to finish so I could put it over the radiators to dry over night when the heating pops on and off.

I've just taken it out of the machine to realise the missing clean uniform was on the radiator behind me all the bloomin time

Why oh why am I so badly organised? Heaven help me when I go back to work in 2 weeks time and have to get myself, and 2 children out the front door by 7.30am

Sounds just like our house!!

You will manage it somehow Shortie. I did it for years and I am about the least organised person on the planet.

Don't envy you returning to work with little ones though, it's like having two full-time jobs!

Phew, I'm not the only one then... For example, OH has just phoned me from work to say that his new boss of next week (also a friend of his from before) is going to pop round "at some point today" - like that narrows it down for me - so I can type out a letter for him while he's waiting for the office computers to be delivered....

Now in panic about the mess left behind last night... I shouldn't be in a mess in the first place

Other than a quick tidy up people take us as we are "untidy".
I have better things to do like putting posts on the vine.

Tidy people have sick minds. I have to tell myself that in paltry excuse for the chaos! At the moment I am at the dining room table. My laptop is sharing it with a sewing machine, a heap of quilt blocks, fabric, cutting mat, acrylic rulers and my camera. We had to eat on our knees last night - until I finish the quilt borders I'm working on. (There is a pepper grinder, lying on its side, in amongst the fabric patches!)

What a pain Shortie! I'm convinced there's a tasmanian devil living in my house... looks that way 99% of the time anyhow!

Oh I'm living with one of those in our house Seahorse! (no, not Trousers)
I love it when the cottage is lovely and tidy, but that doesn't last five minutes, and then we're back to chaos once again. I don't know where I'm going wrong!

My heartfelt sympathies Shortie - I'm right there with you!

Flummy we have to eat on our knees for many similar reasons!

An untidy home is a lived in, loving home!! Thats my excuse anyway and I'm sticking with it!! Whoever has time for tidying up all the time, it'll only get messy again - long as its clean, whats the problem. (Tho yes, I do love it when its all neat and tidy just before a visitor )

Shortie, dont envy you at all having to go back to work when you have two little uns, sounds like two jobs at the same time to me - take it easy when you're home.

Did the exact same thing myself on Sunday night Shortie - was sure I had clean uniform, but then couldn't find it anywhere so had to do 2 loads - one darks & one of whites (3 kids in uniform!), anyway, I took it upstairs to put it out ready, and there was the basket full of clothes, lurking next to the wardrobe door On the positive side, I now have enough uniform clean to last all week! Don't worry about it hon, there's much more important things than a spotless house - sanity being one of them

Poor you Shortie (although it did make me smile!), still at least you've got a spare clean uniform now! Our house is in permanent chaos & there's only two of us, heaven knows how I'd manage with 2 little ones like you. Flum, we eat on our knees all the time, the dining table in the kitchen hasn't seen the light of day in years, it's covered in books, garden stuff, seeds, boxes, a collection of wine corks in a basket (?),plant food etc. etc.!

We eat on our knees too, despite having a lovely italian dining table and chairs. They're also covered in books, washing, magazines and seed catalogues, dog stuff...

(We've got our wine corks in 2 small glass vases - also not sure why. Got a vague feeling we ought to be keeping them for something!)

Yes I guess I always do feel much more comfy in other people's "lived in" houses. I just feel so feel really embarrassed when anyone comes round to ours. Mind you, it can't put people off, they're always dropping round

So, in a mass tidy before Rob came round (to, as it turns out rewrite a whole bloomin' contract for him!) a neighbour 2 doors down popped in to riffle through my flower seeds.I completely don't mind, except it meant I got nothing tidied

Ho hum.... at least when I'm back at work we won't be home most of the day to make it messy

And I hate to be the one to tell you it doesn't seem to get tidier as the kids grow up either - they just leave bigger shoes lying in the way!
