  • Not sure what to do re Job

As you know I applied for a job before christmas at a childrens play center, I went for a 4 hour working interview and they wanted me to go back, I couldnt do the afternoon they wanted as I was Ill, I rang and they said not to worry ring when you are better which I did, I went yesterday for 3 and a half hours, at the end I was asked to ring this morning and The boss would let me know. I rang and the boss said the person who intervied me hadnt been in touch with her ring later I did, still nothing, I rang as asked again at 4.30pm same thing she hasnt managed to get hold of her, ring on monday. Am I being given the run around do you think, They said I would be paid but so far no more has been said. I felt like saying sod off then but kept my cool and politly said that would be fine I will.

i can understand your frustration!! If they can't sort an interview process properly it might indicate that they aren't very well organised and you might not want to work for them anyway. On the flip side there might be a really good reason why they haven't been able to contact the interviewer, and to be honest, with employment looking as it does, i think I'd be prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt. Hang in there for a bit. If you ring on monday and they still haven't got an answer for you why don't you say that you'll go around anyway to pick up the money they owe you. It might force their hand!!

Good luck with it - i hope you are successful!

Sounds like they need someone like you- with more organisational skills!

      - just wait and see- I'd not be bothered either way until you find out- don't let it ruin your weekend by worrying/getting frustrated- it may well work out in the end!

I have paitence alright !!! with 5 kids of my own four grown up boys and one nearly teenage daughter !!! plus one 7yr old grandson. The play centre is where you would bring your own kids and stay with them while they play in the soft play area, they remain your responsibility at all times. There is a cafe at thats the bit I will be doing as well as keeping an eye on the kids making sure they dont do anything dangerous. It has only been open a year so is fairly new, I go there with my niece and her friends with their children so I know what is involved and every time they have advertised for staff I thought about applying and finally got around to it. I will probably have to have a police check but thats not a problem and I have been a lolipop lady so have had one before. Its only for 2 afternoons a week maybe three and possibly emergency cover on a sunday or one sunday in four, so will fit in with my other job until I decide wether to keep that one on or not. I think I have got the job its just frustraiting having done 7 plus hours working interview never had to do it before and I know it was done to see how I cope under pressure from the parents more than the kids lol,to have to wait longer lol.

Ring on Monday and take it from there. Make sure you get paid though. Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

              I agree with Bramble.
I used to work in a place where the management were totally disorganise about interviews and things. They messed people about for ages. And they were just as disorganised about getting a cheque book out to pay them, so make sure you get your money Jackie.

Hi Jackie - like the others I would resume chasing them Monday and try not to think too much about it for now.. You will most likely need a fresh CRB check and even if you have had one before this can still take a few weeks to come through. So you patience maybe tested even further.. But lots of luck hope you get the job and enjoy it

Hi Jackie, as the others have said it seems they really need some one with organisational skills. However having said that it is very bad protocol to keep someone dangling like your good self.
I work in an early years setting as an acting head and i would never expect someone to work for nothing or indeed to be kept hanging around. I think you should give them until monday but if fobbed off again walk away. Very often indecisive people such as these do not make good managers and you need to feel secure in a job not be mucked around.
As far as the CRB check goes you will need a new one as it is for a different organisation.
I have an enchanced one as a teacher and applied to work for help the aged as a volunteer but i still had to have one so you will do too.
Good luck and i hope you get the outcome you want from this.

Good luck, but if they come back and say the job's yours, ask them if they have done a CRB check. If they say it doesnt matter, walk away and report them.

Hopefully, all will be okay and the jobs yours, if not then there are other jobs.

                    good luck tho
