  • Not a Gardening Question.

Sorry, this has nothing to do with gardening, but I know there's usually a grape out there who can answer just about anything. Right. If I were to make a parachute jump/sky dive or whatever, then immediately climb into another plane and take off again, would I get the bends? And if not, why not? I have absolutely no intention of actually doing this, you understand, it's one of those 3am questions we insomniacs occasionally produce in order to keep ourselves awake even longer, but I'd still like to know.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I think this would only apply if the plane went very high and it was not pressurised. You get the bends by decompression by going from a high pressure to a low pressure where the nitrogen in your blood forms bubbles. So it is possible if the unpressurised plane flew high enough but repeating this would have the same risk as doing it once.

Yeah its a pressure thing. I saw a guy a few years ago on TV getting taken in a helicopter to a decomp chamber with the bends. He was diving near Swanage. Turned out to be my brother!

I wondered what keeps insomniacs awake.
            I love growing tomatoes.
