  • North Manchester Nurseries - any help?

A while back someone (in real life, not on here) told me about a couple of nurseries somewhere in North Manchester. I'm pretty sure one was in the Oldham Middleton area and was just near a garden centre... another might have been in the Cheetham Hill area.

I know it's a bit of a long shot, but has anyone got any idea what they are called or where exactly they are?

For the life of me I can't remember what they are called, and though I actually spoke to one of them on the phone pre-injury I can't find the details again.

It's always just after you give up, isn't it!
I found the one I was trying to remember in the Middleton area - Stakehill Nurseries.

If anyone can help with the Cheetham one - if that's the right area - it'd be a big help as I seem to recall they sell one of the spud varieties I really want to grow.

    Cheers folks.

There's a cleveland garden centre on bank Rd. Don't know if that's the one you're thinking of. There's also a community garden centre in Salford and a big one whose name escapes me near the motorway exit in Ashton.

        Cheers, Incy.
Cleveland GC is only a small detour on the way to my allotment so I'll drop in next time I'm passing. It could be the one I'm thinking of, but I don't think I ever knew the name of the one I was told about in that area so it's hard to say.

As for the community garden centre in Salford and the one in Ashton, I've never heard of either before so that's something else to look into.

        Cheers!

I went to a potato day at the community garden centre in Salford and it was really nice. Well worth a visit. I haven't been to the Ashton one for some time but it's pretty big and I enjoyed it when I last went. You can't miss it if you follow the signs for Ikea from the motorway

Do you mean the garden centre at Buile Hill Park? The nearest thing I've found when searching for "community garden centre" on google so far is the one in Hulme which clearly isn't the same place.

I don't suppose you know of any potato days coming up around here do you? I could do with getting along to one but so far I've found nothing.

I don't know if I'll head along to the Ashton one just yet but I know roughly where you mean now after the "Ikea" bit.

Just a quick update to say that the Cleveland Garden Centre has closed down. Calling the listed number gets "this number does not recieve incoming calls" and when I dropped by today I was told by the people in the builder's merchants nearby that it closed a while back.
Ah well - there are plenty more.

My mistake, It was the Hulme community garden Centre on Old Birley Street
I just checked the potato days thread and they seem to be all but over now. There's certainly nothing listed for our area after the end of Feb.

I think the garden centre in Ashton you are talking about could be Daisy Nook ( Daisy Nook Garden Centre - Plants, Furniture, barbecues, patios, coffee shop & much more ). Hope that helps.
