  • No Effin and Jeffin

OK folks, there's to be no swearing over Christmas and New Year - well not if you're in Preston anyway.
I'm all for what they're trying to achieve but is this the way to go about it
City centre introduces a zero-tolerance policy against swearing - Telegraph

How bizarre I like the idea, but I'm not sure I'd fancy those signs here, there, and everywhere... But if it works, I guess they'll be doing it elsewhere.

There's nowt like a good swear, sometimes! I can't see it happening in OH's rampshed, especially at this time of year, when he's grumpy due to the cold!

I don't think they'd get away with pinning those signs up around here Sarzwix. I think people would find them as offensive as anything they would be likely to hear - but then, I don't think they get to hear too much

So ..... does nobody have any opinions as to whether councils should pin NO EFFIN AND JEFFIN signs all over their town centres.

Sorry Alice, I couldn't stop laughing when I saw this - I used to work in the Red Lion in central Preston when I was first a student, many moons ago (does it still exist - the pub not Preston, but then again). Boy would I like to know how they intend to enforce this one! We had bouncers on the door of an ordinary pub every night of the week

My only thought on wether a council should, is that it is a waste of £20,000, it most likely to attract more vandalism.
