  • New Van and dont know what to do with it.Self Employed options???

    Hiya all,
By a strange turn of fate i have found myself with a 2007 Transit Van.
Apart from the full time Foster Care and a couple of hours a day courier work i have quite a bit of time on my hands.
Im looking at suggestions at how best to use this fantastic tool(the van) that i have been given.
I ask here cause i know what a helpful bunch you are

Remember to get buisness cover added to your insurance policy,it would be sensible to get a "Goods in Transit" policy as well

Several advertising on eB*y, could be worth a try. Good luck.

              "Minty's Movers" ?

Only issue is, if you're tipping stuff for people, you may need a permit - the tip in derby by the st water place needs them for trailers (free for council, for 10 visits I believe), my local one here does for vans - but as they can carry more, they need a commerical permit (never really do read the sign about it though).

If it helps, we had our en suite (cubical, loo, cistern, sink + ped), tiles, carpet and odds taken away for £25 by someone with a van (saved me doing it). He probably flogged the usuable stuff, and tipped the rest.

Or you could fit a chaingun in the back, cruise up and down the m'way - and any bad drivers, over take them, pull in front - boot the back doors open and let them have it. You'll be doing the world a favour

Chris, hope you checked he was registered as a trade waste carrier if not you may have failed in your `duty of care` to the environment which can lead to a unlimited fine on conviction.

As a plumber I find the cheapest way to comply with the waste disposal laws is to store my waste until I have a skip full and then hire said skip.

Minty, before you even consider carrying waste of any description consult the environment web site on trade waste. All waste becomes `trade waste` the minute you are paid to shift it, or you may find yourself with a van full you cannot legal get rid off.

The laws were draughted to try and control waste movement and reduce fly tipping. As usual out politicians got it wrong and fly tipping as increased 10 fold.

Light removals with the correct vehicle and public liability insurance is a safe option.

                Good luck Colin.

You know me so well, Flo!....And my apologies Minty, it WAS the wine talking, though even stone cold sober, I think starting the new "A" Team has it's merits!
