  • New Garden is underway!!

Well, in the continuing saga of my self build house, our builder has come back this week to start the garden and he's made phenominal progress.

We've gone from a flat area of mud to having brick retaining walls/raised beds down the right hand side of the garden, ready to be filled with soil.

Two freestanding brick raised beds in the middle of the garden which flank the (soon to be) lawn area. We'll plant our big Tree Fern and Grapevines in these beds and the grapes will be able to grow over the new pergola which will divide the formal/smart side of the garden from the kitchen garden. This will have the chicken run and room for some extra veg and soft fruit which I haven't space for at the lottie.

But I couldn't believe it when we arrived this afternoon to find he's even got the pergola up today! He and his team stayed til 6.30 this evening to get it concreted in.

    God he's good!!

I can't wait to get planting!!!

So you may be in need of a few Grape Hyacinths???...I'll dig a feww up now & if you find they don't transfer well green, then you may have a few more later on!!!
Hope we're going to get some piccies...it's sounding great!

The fact that we've actually planned space for the chooks means we're really going to get some - come on Jane, Hettie and Miss Lemon I'm waiting for you!! (that's my planned names for the ladies - fictional English lady detectives)

Am I being thick here or is that contradictory?

Well okay, we haven't physically built the shell of the house, but we did completely design it, help demolish the old property, project manage the main build and have done the lions share of the inside ourselves, and when someone is that good at what they do, why have a dog and bark yourself as the saying goes

Got a few Pakistani pepper seeds in my bag to come home. Going to a GC that I spotted yesterday so will have a look and see what they have available and put a list on the seed swappy thing. But will send you some anyway as a housewarming gardenwarming thing
