  • My rings no longer fit

My wedding, engaement and eternal ring no longer fit since I had my hand operated on . My fingers are still a bit swollen, do I wait to see if they go down anymore or get my rings altered 3 sizes on two of the rings and 2 sizes on one ring. The cost is nearly £100 for all three. ( double )

I'd wait a little while Jackie as they may go down more yet. Maybe you could wear the rings on a chain around your neck in the meantime?

      Hi

Wait, it will take some time for the swelling to go completely.
      Bye

The way I see it, if you want the rainbow you have got to put up with the rain!

I realy dont like not wearing them, I am married and miss them lol. Lokking at my hand I dont think they are going to get any smaller. I even tried on my mums wedding ring it fits but I dont like wearing it as it wasnt given to her by my dad but by my horrible obnoxious step father.

can you ask the hospital if they know how long it may take for final swelling to go down?

My aunt had hers altered when she had a nasty sting infection that wouldn;t heal... then after a year when it was totally cleared they were too big again!

I'm sure you miss your rings Jackie J. They have great emotional meaning for you.
I would wait and see if the swelling goes down a bit more. Have you tried elevating your hand. When you are sitting around make a lttle pile of cushions and put your elbow down and your hand up - that might help the swelling to go down.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Lol I havent been back to the hospital, no follow up, they dont seem to do it now.
They dont look swollen just bigger than they were and dont really look much different to the other hand.
Next time I go to the doctors ( might be a while I hardly ever go ) I will ask him if they are no smaller.

Other hand for now maybe???....less likely to lose them ( thinking of chain breaking)...that would be typical

I know it's not the same- but have you thought of a gold coloured curtain ring- just for now so it 'feels/looks' right????

They do come in different sizes.....

I would go for a chain for at least 6 months (or longer!) from date of stitches removed after operation. If they still don't fit then, that is soon enough to get them resized. It might take as much as a year for the last traces of inconspicuous swelling to disappear.
Unless you are left handed, your right hand will almost certainly be a bit bigger than your left, so 'swapping hands' wouldn't necessarily be a good move anyway.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
