  • My Mum went Shopping and she got....

Do you remember that game....well Mrs Nog took me to the GC today for a trip out...

While we were there we had a voucher for a free pack of 6 bedding plants...in the car park an old dear gave us too more vouchers...so we had 3 free packs of bedding plants.

On the way back we saw a skip and decided to have a nose....owner came out and said we could have whatever we wanted....so my freebies for the day is..

3 free packs of bedding plants
    2 scaffold poles
    1 water butt with lid
    1 teak table
    7 teak chairs
    roll of chicken wire
    pile of wood
    pile of plant pots

I cant beleive what he was throwing out....Mrs Nog said to him he should have put a "take me if you want me sign" and saved on the cost of the skip.

I helped my Dad take a load of junk to the local recycling centre this afternoon - shame it's not like the old days, I could have filled the trailer up again to take back home LOL

I'm hoping to find some 'drawer fronts', or other remnants of OLD furniture (if it happens to be mahogany, so much the better).
I have a small project making carved name-plates. Mahogany is lovely stuff to carve. Most hardwoods are possible, but mahogany is the best (well sycamore is good too, but less likely to be around).
Oak finishes nice, but a B to work with.....

I am the tranny van man when it comes to skip diving. I don't care if people call me a pikey! I've had brand new fence posts, plant pots, welded mesh, water barrels, etc.....

My biggest find was a whole roll of blue water pipe for making little hoops for cloches and tunnels.

I reckon I've saved or earned a good £100 on stuff!

I'm really chuffed you've managed to 'find' all that stuff!!...well done!

(However- living over here has made me really aware about how much stuff we chuck out in the UK...decent stuff we're just fed up with- not even giving to recycling/charity shops. We really should be ashamed of ourselves)

We got a phonecall from a friend a few weeks ago...she had a skip & her neighbour asked how much it cost to hire as he had 100 unbroken patio slabs to get rid off!!!Thankfully, she told them to forget the skip & sent us round instead! We've managed to totlally path lottie no.1(the path to the chooks that gets treachorous in bad weather)& have several left over!
Tis criminal what some throw away.....but pretty darned handy too!
