  • My email - wots goin' on?

I am receiving dozens, and I mean dozens of failure notices. They look like this

    (From) MAILER-DAEMON@yahoo.com (Subject) Failure Notice

any ideas? Words of fewer than one syllable please.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

That means an email you sent has got an error in the address so it can't be delivered - it keeps trying for you but each time it fails. Track down the original email and check the address line.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I think this is a bit more serious than one email getting stuck. I am getting bursts of 30+ returned notices at a time.

Also, the subject line of the returned emails is a bit suspect.

are you actually sending any e-mails? If not, you've been hacked.
If you are, you're connection is probably dodgy, or you appear to be sending spam, or the people you are writing to dont exist, or the people you are writing to have mailboxes full of e-mail [they've been spammed]

I'm hoping you have a good antivirus programme installed on your pooter. What email are you using?

I assume that you haven't been sending out that many emails anyway, SS?

I suspected that it was a nasty. It's just that I don't understand too much about it.

I have a btinternet.com address and I use this through yahoo. I have AVG on the 'puter.

Change your password as a start. If you google Daemon and yahoo spam you find lots of similar cases.

I have btinternet and yahoo too but I also use the disposable addresses option for most of my public contacts - like this website.

Right. I'm back. Password changed. Let's see what happens now.

Must look into the disposable email address. Cheers all.

The disposable email addresses are good because you can have a different one for everything you sign up to. If there's any problem with spam you delete that address.
