  • my dog is a wimp

My dog(labrador) just got beaten up by a vicious(but very small) black cat at the stables - I have never seen anything like it - she cowered on the ground yelping and hadn't even gone near the thing - it actually marched over to her to cause trouble. she is now sat looking sheepish in her basket - aaah....

Maybe it's a labrador thing - mine was set upon by two siamese a few years ago.
Now, she is now terrified of men who speak french (!!!) and hides under my skirt. Utterly pitiful.

the other week, i saw a staffy bolting across my lawn, no idea where it had come from, (i guess it had escaped from somewhere) but it was swiftly followed by my cat, who followed it through next doors garden, and down the street ........ never seen it again though, i hope it got home safely

Barking dogs freak cats out it's true, mine bolt witha dog bark.

But I have to be honest, faced with a manic dog or cat, my instinct is that I'd be more scared of the cat! I know dogs bite etc, but it's the flipping cat claws.

My lab once caught a white kitten as it ran past him, we think he thought it was a ball. He then gave me the most eloquent, desperate look I've ever seen on a dog, it basically said; 'Heeeelp, I've got a flipping cat in my mouth.' We gently took it from him and, apart from being covered in the ubiquitous labrador drool, it was completely unharmed. Theo though, ran away and hid behind the shed until the kitten had been safely returned to its own garden. It doesn't matter, cats apart, he was a beautiful, brave old boy.

Our cat totally rules the dog All he has to do is sit in the doorway and there's no way Pads will try & get past! She just sits there & whines til you shoo the cat away. Can't blame her - I wouldn't fancy a cat hanging off my nose either

LOL So true! However there are some complete animal nuts that appear on this website every so often - total animal psychologists 'whoooo' and all that and take it all a bit too seriously so I can see where Cloud is coming from, she is brave to voice her opinions, I got told off for finding it funny when my dog chases its tail by one person!!!! Am I cruel?

I recall some time ago when I was still living with my parents, a friend of mine knocked at the door for me with his Rottweiler - a meaty thing called Zeus (typical I know). Anyway, he didn't have a good hold on the lead and the dog charged into the house, through the hallway and into the kitchen. It soon returned with one of our cats (a dear beloved tortoiseshell named Sherry) clinging to its back. She let go as they reached the front porch and the dog span round. At this point I thought that Sherry was in for it. However, she somehow kind of backflipped (it all goes a bit Matrix at this point) and caught Zeus on the nose with her claws, Zeus let out an almighty yelp and ran into the garden and sat in the corner quivering behind one of mums plants.

My mate never called at the house with his dog again.

My black tom rules the house. Max, the pup thinks he's hard enough to take him on, but Puss always wins cos he's just evil. When I look at him though, I still see the cute fluffy kitten that he was.
Boo is more sensible than Max and just leaves well alone. Even my very skittish female cat is higher up the pecking order than the dogs. She used to run away and they would chase, but now she stands her ground and this just confuses them

I was doing the front garden a couple of years ago & a little westie wandered up the drive past me & trotted off through the side gate. I thought it must be lost as I couldn't see anyone in the street with it & went into the back garden to get it. When I got there the poor dog was pinned in a corner against the fence with the cat hissing & spitting at it! Our cat is the most nervous creature I've known, she had been a mistreated stray but for some reason she took against this poor little dog! I grabbed the dog & hid him in the house while I phoned the number on his collar for them to collect him before her ladyship found him again!
