  • Mosquito bites

I AM hearing more and more people saying that they are being bitten by mosquitos on the plots, one chap had to go to hospital as his leg had swollen up and the doctor confirmed it was a mosquito bite...

    anyone else having them?

They say that Avon skin so soft, dry oil spray keeps them off. Its the green soft and fresh scent that they do not like. Apparently the army uses.

I've heard the one about Avon, main thing is to keep covered up. I react really badly to midge and mossie bites. Anthisan, if applied as soon as you're bitten, is very effective

I have been getting bites nearly everytime I go to the lottie, trouble with my plot it backs onto a stream and has lots of trees behind me. I use Anthisan as well, the other day I sprayed my legs with some insect repelent before I went to the lottie, didnt think anything of it until I visited my son and his new puppy, little madam wouldnt stop licking my legs, we couldnt understand why, then the penny dropped lol

I used to be popular with all sorts of flying bloodsuckers, until recently. These days they seem to prefer OH, so if going where they might be, I make sure he is with me<g>

Covering up with clothes doesn't make any difference. If they are going to bight you they will get you through your socks or anything else.
Mossies need water to breed - small amounts will do - so don't leave trays, pots or anything that will contain water standing about.
But if you know they are there Autan is a good repellent. It comes in all forms - liquid, rub stick, spray on. It is quite expensive and you do need to use it liberally - like put it everywhere.
