Default Is it me?

This morning I was woken by my DD, giving me a kiss on my nose, ah lovely innit!

Anyway, as I was up at the crack of dawn I decided to get outside and make the most of it being dry and mow the lawn. Ok, so its about 7.45am at this point, my neighbour came out and gave me the filthiest looks. Get a life!!, I don't have an infinate amount of time in a day to achieve these things, they have to be done when there are two of us in the house. That way there is always someone to look over our DD. So is it me, or do others do this.

Hmmm, well if the neighbour was up enough to come out & give you a filthy look, I wouldn't worry too much. If they were giving you filthy looks out of the bedroom window, then perhaps that isn't so good?
I'd be P-ed off if our neighbour started mowing the lawn before 8am - my kids are finally old enough that I can have a bit of a lie-in at the weekend, and I think I deserve it after 14 years of getting up at the crack of dawn! No need to inflict it on other people, you could get the quiet, indoor jobs done first hey?

Well I should have said that OH was having a party for 8 kids today, while I'm in work, so no I couldn't have left it for later, I had a nagging OH in my ear.

i love nothing better than a lie in, but i wouldnt have moaned, time is precious and i am sure that they will have more to complain about later with all the kids coming, far more noise than the sound of a lawn mower.

The thing is, you werent up at 6am doing it and you didnt have a party last night, so whats the deal!! mind you i am not a morning person (ask the kids and OH??) but i wouldnt have moaned at you, i am gonna cut my lawn today.

as they say "you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all of the time"

hope the kids have a great party and there is a lot of noise so the miserable neighbout cant get back to sleep!!! lol

Sorry Mikeywills, but I would have been a right old bugger if I'd been woken up at that time by your mower

Having said that I had to go into 'town' today (Enfield) and every second car seemed to have it's own personal rave going on inside. Hubby and I quickly came to the conclusion that we are allergic to other people and their noise and should probably go and live on a deserted island or in a big field - providing nobody's around with a mower......

I've have chucked a very large bucket of water over you!!

No, actually I'm only teasing, it wouldn't have worried me as I am an early riser and as I live with big 'ellllycopters buzzing around all day and all night (sometimes until 0100hrs!) I am now immune to noise ....WOT CAN'T 'EAR YA

I would never put the mower - or anything else on - before 9am at the earliest. Thankfully my neighbours show the same consideration.

I'd have set my wife on you Mikeywills!! Personally I think that you were too early with the mower. I would prefer mowing after 10.00am and not later than 7.00 pm. (I believe that in Switzerland mowing is prohibited on a Sunday.)

And my own rant - children screaming up and down our road - and I do mean SCREAMING!! All the houses in our road have fairly large gardens but it seems that parents don't want their own peace disturbed so they send their children out to the front of the house where they can annoy the neighbours.

I can see your neighbours point of view I am afraid, mind you, my neighbour chops logs for his fire at 5.30, so we are used to getting woken at stupid o clock. Luckily, I can now turn over and sleep after it.
I do see your point of view, about time being tight, but maybe today was the only time all week your neighbour had had a lie in

Oh, I know just what you mean. My neighbour's children are now old enough to go out with friends etc and we hardly ever see/hear them. Oh Bliss. We thought that this year we could enjoy some nice quiet evenings. But NO! We now have a completely new set of "young uns" from further along the road that choose to play football right out side our house even though there is a playing field at the end of the road!

Ah the sounds of summer.

Lawn mowers, strimmers dogs barking, power washers and kids playing.

Personally I don't like to start with the noisy activities untill after 10am on a Sunday. Mind you when I was a kid we were expected not to be noisy on a Sunday full stop.

A bit of a lie in, off to church and then packed off to see grand parents in the country or sit and listen to the radio indoors.

Ah, a nice mixed bag of opinion, I'm not that bothered, said neighbours rarely talk to me, since we put up a carbunkle on our roof (flat roof dormer!), normally I do have more consideration, and it was a Saturday, not a Sunday.

Party went ahead without a hitch, albeit it rained and no one went out in the garden. At least they could admire it from a far.

Glad the party went well, bum about the rain though. My daughter's birthday is at the end of July and we usually plan for an outdoor party, but the last couple of years it's had to be relocated indoors due to the rain. Hoping it'll be 3rd time lucky this year, or I'm giving up!

most of my friends kiddies have winter birthdays & they're always envious they can't have outdoor garden parties.~what they don't realise is the stress when you've invited many excitable children to party in the garden, then the clouds appear!!we were lucky yesterday~although it clouded over & wasn't particularly warm it stayed dry, last year we'd stupidly invited about 20 as we had a big garden;unfortunately due to the hail we had to fit them all into our tinsy house!!

Some moron put a sprinkler on a bridleway yesterday, to water their lavender in the middle of the day. It was interesting riding past that! Didn't know an exmoor pony could do piaffe!

Don't think I would have bothered about a mower at 07:45, but I'm always awake way before that, even if I can't be bothered to get up. My cat has the RSCPA on speed dial, to stop me staying in bed beyond 8am. EVER!

we bought a massive gazebo a few years ago, easily fits 20 plus people, and in february, for sons birthday, we get the 2 gas BBQ's out, put them inside while they are warming up, so it warms the gazebo, then open up the end and move them outside, do the BBQ then move them back in again to keep it warm, we also have a patio heater in there .... and february is always freezing lol.

when he was little, all parties were somewhere else, like mcdonalds, or jungle jims, or the swimming pool, can't be doing with all that kiddy entertaining lol

No.2 son has an early April birthday, his last three parties in England were all outside! Not because it was nice weather though!!!!!! The year before last we cammed up 20 7yr olds and set them loose on Salisbury plain in the rain - and we didn't lose any and they all loved it !!!!!
You'd be amazed how hot a coolbox can keep stuff.
I hate childrens parties, the noise, disappointment and fighting...... (10 years of nannying and then 3 of my own will do that to a girl!!!)

New neighbour moved in a few days ago just a few houses away. 3 children - totally uncontrolled - 3 year old riding his little truck in the middle of the road - the other two shouting and screaming. But I do now understand why children are so ill disciplined when away from their parents - the new neighbour is a headmaster!!
