  • Man Plague - why now

From monday, I am working on an Asphalt plant in Mansfield, ripping out lots of old electrics and fitting new plc's etc. We will be working 12 hour days as a minimum and will get Christmas day, boxing day and new years day off. The job finishes on 12th Jan.

Today and tommorow I am finishing off a partial re-wire so am busy both days.

I woke up this morning with man plague......... why now????

Same used to happen when I used to contract away from home, was so bad coughing once that I fell off a ladder.

I think it is the fact that we are not immune to all these "foreign" germs.

Still you're a Man God Damn it, stiff upper lip and all that. Job to be done, money to be earned, must feed the little woman and the offspring don't you know!
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

Fight through it PW, even you oiks in the scrum will be close to death, stricken as you are with the hideous disease.
However, with true male guts and determination you will survive.
And SBP has a point. Mansfield???

Well I lasted the day at work and having deliberately left floor boards up tonight I HAVE to go back tommorow to finish off.

Mansfields as bad as you imagine, you get your feet checked for webbing before you are allowed back out, something I have only ever encountered before in Barwell and parts of Norfolk.

PW; I attended a 'hen night' in the centre of Mansfield town earlier this year.

                    oh my god.

I had to fein illness, called my OH [who was eating fish and chips at the time] and he came to pick me up - I just walked and walked out of town and didn't stop until he drove past.

She's not a gardener so she won't see this, and I love her to bits but the mansfield girls...not even I [well versed in the Chatham Meat Markets of the mid 90s] could cope.

Sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.

                    bleugh.

Drink plenty of fresh orange juice, eat French Onion Soup with a whole bulb of garlic added, and something VERY chilli-ish... Any germ in your system will be completely anihilated You might pong a bit though

smallblueplanet does have a point. I know Mansfield very well, it truly is the anal orifice of Nottinghamshire.

If you are well enough to get into work you should be glad of the twelve hour shifts. That way it will be dark when you get there and dark when you leave, meaning you won't have to see what a s**t hole it really is.

                          could be!
Last year Mr S was meant to be flying abroad for work that he really didn't want to do, but was all packed ready to go. He woke up middle of the night with outrageous toothache ... I thought he was about to cark it

He needed a dentist, he wouldn't fly without seeing a dentist, so I am phoning round at 8am trying to an emergency appt (6 weeks! Ha!)

Then I said, if it's that bad, go to A & E. Don't fly, just go to hospital and get it sorted, if you're in that much pain.

It wasn't that bad. He flew, and the tooth was all recovered the next day

                          Good luck Piglet, battle on.
