  • Love Your Garden - Alan Titchmarsh

Apparently it was the first programme last Friday (10th) at 8.00 p.m. I don't remember anyone posting any comments about it, so does that mean none of us watched it? I missed it, but then I have gorn orf him a bit. I do like Val Warner though and he's on it as well.

I didn't think it was up to much. Lots of telling you over and over what was coming next repeating the same clips and then the features themselves really insubstantial

It says that they'll show you how to use your own garden, whatever size to create something special, I think the plan is to show a different style each week. The 1st one was about creating a traditional English garden. There was a bit about keeping bees and about trying to keep birds safe from cats! (Basically you can't!).

You're right FoxHIll Gardener, they do that repeating themselves thing which means they only need half as much useful (more expensive) content to fill the time which is really irritating - do they really think we don't realise that?
Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

I watched it and found it rather patronising. He was showing you how to garden in a SMALL garden...yer right...half a football pitch more like. If he want's to see small...I'll send him an invite.

I went off him when he started to preach about using peat in his compost.

I think I went off him when he diversified to writing fiction and hosting chat shows. It can't leave him much time for gardening.

Oh yer, wifey watched it I remember taking her in a cup of coffee part way through, when AT was waffling on about the pond edging & he told the lady of the house basically to have faith & go indoors & have a coffee (in what I thought was a rather sanctimonious manner) while he did it.Never bothered beyond that.

Yes.. take out all the waffle of what you are going to see, and whats coming up in part 2 and the 5 mins of stupid ads, what are you left with. Thumbs down for this .. almost as bad as G/W. Beechgrove is 10 times better.

Please don't be put off by my comment Flo,it was very much on a personal level & I only saw a few moments, not the entire program & as such may well have been doing it a dis-service

Rubbish sow. Typical of the shows you see on ITV- watered/dumbed down twaddle.

                        Get rid.

Typical ITV to put their gardening program on Friday night when GW is on. Well last week Alan zzzzzzz on so much I fell asleep and woke refreshed just in time for the better show.

Watched it last week and thought it was very thin on content and so didn't learn a thing. This week didn't bother. Anyway GW was on earlier for an hour and was much better. Where can I find Beechgrove. I think it's a Scottish regional programme.

You should be able to find it on iplayer Wendy. Or, if you have Sky you'll find it on BBC1 Scotland (which used to be up in the 900s) on Mondays (about 7.30 I think).
The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.
