  • little ditties (following happybunny)

Not a garden one (will have to put thinking cap on for them) but here's one I stuck on the staffroom notice board after a particularly difficult day...

There once was a teacher called Jane
Who's kids were a terrible pain
    All day they'd riot
    And never be quiet
Is it too late to retrain?!

    Anyone got any others?

I know 1 or 2 but I don't think the mods would like them?

Not a ditty but I wrote this for a friend when she lost her husband. They used to run a line dance class and I used to organise the odd hoe down with them as callers etc.

                  Can you hear the stomping?
                  And all the laughter too?
Its Brian and all the angels
                  Oh what a merry crew

What a shame we cannot see them
All lined up in a row
                  Dancing together in glowing white
His very own line dance show

And as he dances through the night
                  And even through each day
Its certain he remembers all his friends
And how we all danced that way

Here it is..... Oh I should explain that my birth mother died when I was 9 months old. Dad met Mum (step Mum adopted me) at the nursery he took me to so that he could work and they married just before my 3rd birthday......

AN APRIL DAY, 25 YEARS AGO

Thank you Mum and Thank you Dad
For making me ever so glad
That on an April day, 25 years ago
Your love for each other and for me did show

For on a bright, happy April day
Vows to each other were important to say
And with those words, so precious and true
A marriage was born, for me and for you

For as well as a husband, so handsome and tall
You gained a daughter, who was really quite small
And with the patience and the love that you showed
She growed and she growed and she growed and she growed!

Look at me now, I am sure you will agree
There is no one in the world at all like me
This is because, that from that day on
We had family life to build upon

In the 25 years which have flown by without care
The family has been joined, by Nicola & Claire
And now I know where we are all headed now
It’s our happy futures, cos you’ve showed us how.

                        Hows this?.........

Oh I do so love the Grapevine

Its where I feel at home

Its with these friends I spend my time

                        So I never feel alone

It started with some advice on seeds

Or some other garden subject I think

But since then I have learnt all about veg and weeds,

composting and what to do with a butler sink

As 2008 has been waved goodbye

I look forward to the next season with glee

And anticipate wonderful discussions with a sigh

that I wish it wasn’t better than housework to me!

This one doesn't have a title yet but here it is:

                            See the sunflower
                            Tall and proud.
                            See the daises
                            Growing in a crowd.

                            See the iris,
                            Purple and yellow.
                            And see the tulips,
                            Lovely and mellow.

                            Look at all the flowers,
                            Growing in the ground.
                            Listen to the leaves,
                            Making a rustling sound.

                            Look at the petals,
                            Lovely and bright,
                            Look at the flowers,
                            Oh what a lovely sight!

                            Mighty roses, full of power,
                            The bees buzzing round,
                            Pollinating each flower,
                            That grows in the ground.

                            With the water and sun.
                            Shining away.
It’s helping each one grow today!

                            How's that?

And we don’t even mind the rainy weather.*
