  • The Liberal Democrats. Pfft!

    What a bunch of turncoats!

Promises before the election have been tossed aside as soon as a whiff of power is blown their way. The way that Clegg sits beside Dave at PMQs smirking turns my stomach.

A long-held policy of not rising tuition fees (they even said they would remove them after 6 years) has been forgotten, along with dozens of other policies.

Yet, before the election, Clegg did not have one good word to say about the Tories.

As much as I hate the Tories, I can honestly say that I hope the Lib Dems get annihalated at the next General Election. They conned voters into voting for them in order to keep the Tories out- they actively encouraged this kind of tactical voting.

I was one of those tactical voters- hence my anger.

My other half reckons that by the next election, the Lib Dems, to all intents and purposes, wont exist in their pre-election format and most certainly not as a main challenger.

He believes that getting into bed with the Conservatives has seen to that and I think he may well be right.

I always thought that the Lib Dems weren't to be trusted as they were partly formed by turncoat(Traitor) Labour MPs.
By the way I think George Osborne looks like Rimmer in Red dwarf.

Oh c'mon, c'mon as George Bernard Shaw said, 'a true Englishman never lets his principles get on the opposite side of his interests.'

The government you have is a mish mash of nothing. There was no overall majority.

It has got to be better than keeping Gordon Brown in office. Innit.

No it isn't any better - and I think it's the death knell of the lib dems.

                    What can you expect?

People vote LD because they think they can get Labour spending without Tory economic controls.

They are of course unworldly pie in the sky naive people who don't like reality so when it hits them in the face..

Government is all about compromise between what you want and reality. The LDs in Opposition could ignore that for years and promise anything on the basis no sensible electorate is ever going to vote them into power. Once in power, they discover the real world....

                    Idealist .. yes... Realists no...

lots of students, their parents and grandparents voted libdem purely because of their promises to put an end to university fees.

None of them will be taken in by these empty promises again. Lib Dems have blown their chances with a huge chunk of these voters for the next 20 years.

Sorry but that's them being naive..

The only reason the Scots can abolish tuition fees is the English subsidy (Barnett). And anyone who could do sums..couls see that.... but then I blame the education sistem as peepul are not tot sums or spelling animore. Nor to think for themselves..

Anyone think the LDs will get PR?

Last time they tried it was with Tony Blair who showed the rest of the UK how naive they are..
The LDs prove some people can be fooled all of the time..

in full agreement here too; i never have trusted the lib dems, and not so far impressed with the tories either. to be honest i think the coalition are going to be the ruin of the country, as they are going to be running the economy to a standstill.

The lib dems are pretty much ex-tories anyways, so it was inevitable that with a whiff of power alongside their former coworkers, they would suddenly forget all of the 'middle party' rubbish and come out as tories.

Both are a pile of crap, and shouldn't be in power.

Labour have their faults too but did well to keep the economy going through the last few years, plus they have the majority's interests at heart - unlike the tories.
