  • I've lost lawn

Replied to a thread about rhubarb from lawn. He / she sent pm. When I tried to reply I couldn't. (Something about lawn not set up to recieve pms). Now I can't find original thread (think it was in seed swap) or find lawn on the members list.

Have I cocked up somewhere? (Not very 'with it' when it comes to computers and stuff.

yep all lawns posts are gone, account must have been deleted, and as far as i know only admin can do that, they must have had their reasons if they did.

I replied to lawn about something else and the thread went...we've got a lot of spammers at the mo so perhaps there was more going on than we know about.

Lawn, allotment, compost_100, david devine, helena devine, sheep farmer et al are all the same person and any further accounts they open will be banned.

Beware of any adverts or wants on the seed swap site and be especially wary if the person if from Derry in Ireland and wants your email address.

If you are unsure if any request is legitimate, just Pm any of us mods and we will dig deeper.

Thanks for that pigletwillie. lawn had asked for my e mail address, which I thought was a bit odd. I did have the sense not to include it when I tried to return the pm.

The mods. do a great job. It would be a shame if anyone were to spoil the 'grapevine experience'. I very much enjoy visiting and chatting on here. The grapes are a truly friendly bunch.

Gosh. A lot of effort just to get some free seeds.
I had a slightly unpleasant private message from somebody else ... whom I have now added to my Ignore list. They can now send me all the nasty emails they like now, cos I can't receive them

I have just posted a load of seeds on the swap thread, and had loads and loads of replies including quite a few from people with one or two posts, Allotment being one of them.

If I don't know who they are or recognise the name I always check the posts, one had 9 posts and all where asking for seeds surpirisingly they didn't get any from me.

I know it sounds awful but if a request for seeds comes in from someone who hasn't contributed to the vine in a positive way, there is no way in hell they get anything from me, seeds, address, email etc. sorry if anyone genuine with a couple of posts asked me for seeds but maybe next time then

There was one person who went through shedloads of seed swap threads and posted 'Can I haves' on all of them - the threads were in some cases over a year old. It got very irritating, and I don't think we ever saw the peson again.

I think I spend too much time on this forum if I'm noticing all these things, and it's usually obvious who is genuine or not. But, sometimes one to two will get through.

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
